BREAKDOWN OF CURRICULUM AREAS AND PROGRESSIONS
Sessions at The Lakes run for 60 minutes and cover all required areas of the curriculum. Each year level prioritises time for Literacy and Numeracy learning, while integrating areas of Humanities, Science, Geography and Civics and Citizenship through carefully selected mentor texts and activities which give students opportunity to practice their developing decoding and comprehensions skills while learning factual content and applying their knowledge to real life problems. Within the week, all students across the school spend a minimum of 10 sessions focussed on Literacy, 8 sessions focussed on Numeracy and 2 sessions dedicated to personal and social learning through explicit SWPBS lessons and structured Resilience Project lessons. AUSLAN lessons are run weekly within classrooms, and students also participate in Digital Technology, Visual Art, Performing Art and Physical Education lessons run by specialist teachers.
of their progress through an understanding of their performance data.
Central to our approach is the belief in personalised learning plans, where each student’s unique strengths and aspirations are nurtured and honed. We prioritise differentiation in our work, setting and achieving goals that drive us towards personal and collective
excellence in a supportive and secure environment.
