Street Rod Evangelists

KEITH KROGMEIER West Central Division Director

Keith and Lollie Krogmeier out of Fort Madison, Iowa, got involved in street rodding because of their friends and keep coming to events because of all the new friends they’ve made along the way. Keith built the couple’s ’37 Plymouth sedan (they also spend a lot of time behind the wheel of their T-Bucket) by boxing the stock chassis, slipping in a Mustang II IFS, a Chassis Engineering parallel-leaf Chrysler 8 3/4 rear suspension, chrome 15-inch Chrysler steelies wearing 215/70/15 Summit rubber, and a Plymouth 318 backed up by a 904 three-speed automatic trans. Keith removed the bumpers, straightened out the body and laid down the two-tone green (Mercedes over Chrysler) paint. He then used an EZ Wire kit to get the 12 volts flowing and stitched tan vinyl over the bucket seats and added Vintage Air A/C. It’s always great to see Keith and Lollie, even if I leave a little more rotund then when I arrived.

CANDACE HANLEY Northern Illinois State Representative Candace and Jerry Hanley from Tinley Park, Illinois, built their ’37 Ford convertible over 20 years ago and have been having a great time ever since it was done. The drop-top features a TCI frame with a tubular TCI IFS, Boyd Coddington hoops wearing Goodyear rubber and a SBC 350/TH350 power combination. Mike Vaerewyck straightened out the already chopped and slicked-off Down’s body before he laid down the Sunset Orange over a white base. Kris Customs was responsible for the Vintage Air-cooled interior. It’s always great to see a lady volunteering and in reverse roles, I hope Jerry is good with the paperwork.

ART STULTZ Vermont State Representative

Art Stultz out of Colchester, Vermont, got interested in rodding by reading all the car magazines in his youth and now we are looking at his ’32 Ford coupe he has owned for 62 years. He got the ’32 in the ‘60s from an ad at a dragstrip in San Antonio, Texas, which makes me wonder what a Yankee was doing in Texas? The unchopped five-window rolls on a boxed stock frame with air suspension front and rear and goes with a fuel-injected Chevy 350 backed up with a Turbo 350. The interior is extra comfy with Vintage Air, crushed velvet seating by Phil LeGrand and power everything. Ken’s Body Shop laid down the red paint. I’ll see you in Burlington having a great time as always.
