JOHN KNOCHENMUSS Mississippi State Representative Like many of us, John Knochenmuss out of Little Rock, Mississippi, is a second- generation rodder. John bought his ’32 Ford roadster from a family friend. The slick highboy features a 355ci Chevy wearing dual quads and John takes care of shifting the Tremec five-speed. A Pete & Jake’s chassis features a dropped I-beam, a Ford rearend on coilovers, painted steelies wearing ’40 caps and trim rings, and lighting from Guide lights on tubular stands. Marc and Jake Harrington straightened out the body while Eli Griffin laid down the red PPG hues to complement the white interior. It’s good to see younger faces becoming rodders and I hope to see you for years to come.
LARRY CARTER Northern Indiana State Representative
Larry and Karen Carter from Tipton, Indiana, have been rodding since the beginning and have put way over 400,000 miles on their ’37 Ford sedan they have owned for 52 years. The Carter’s started with a car from an ad in their local paper that now runs a FatMan frame with a Mustang II IFS, a leaf sprung rear suspension, Chevy 350/350 power combination, turning 15-inch chrome steelies with spider caps and wide-white radials. The bucket seat interior is done in silver Velour and the Fallen Angels straightened out the body and laid down the Martin Senour white over purple paint. Larry wanted to thank his dad Eathel Carter and his brother- in-law Bob Burturt, but I’ d also like to thank Larry for his years of being a great friend and a great street rodder.
RONALD FORTNER Northern West Virginia State Representative
Sadly, Ron Fortner out of Ravenswood, West Virginia, passed away shortly after I took this picture, but we ultimately decided to include Ron and his surviving wife, Sandy, to honor their 40 years of volunteering to help street rodding grow. Ron and Sandy built their ’39 Ford convertible they converted from Deluxe to Standard. Ron built the ragtop using a stout Ford 302 engine with aluminum heads, a C4 slushbox, a boxed chassis with a Heidt’s IFS and a Poises parallel-leaf rear suspension and Center Line billet wheels. Ron straightened out the body and fit the panels up perfectly before spraying the blue over lilac paint and then stitched the interior in blue and included power everything, including Vintage Air A/C. Sandy and family (Tamara and Scott) you have all of NSRA’s condolences and you’ll be in our prayers. Ron, you are missed and I’ll think of you often.
