In this picture you see the Pleasant Lake Train Station currently being restored by the Fort Wayne, Indiana, steam engine train group with plans to operate train excursions in the Tri-State (IN, OH, MI) area using this station as their headquarters. You're probably saying, yea, so what? The significance of the train station in this picture is that Mike Bultemeier found his ‘33 Dodge Brothers DP sedan sitting in an apple orchard on the north side of Pleasant Lake rotting away less than a mile east of the train station, and 36 miles from home in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He purchased it for $250, loaded it on a trailer, and hauled it home on Labor Day weekend of 1972, 53 years ago! Mike first restored it and in five years only drove it 5,000 miles then a friend convinced him to convert it into a street rod; while returning from Pleasant Lake recently the speedometer showed 129,028 miles. Those miles included a "Bucket List" trip following Route 66 to California, attending the Western Street Rod Nationals (second place for Long Distance), and the trip home including Highway 1 north to San Francisco, through Redwood trees, Lake Tahoe, Nevada desert, the Bonneville Salt Flats, and then I-80 home. On the road for 32 days the trip covered 6,651 miles and overworked the phrase, "Oh wow, look at that!"
