SILVER LAKE Serbia’s most visited lake is in the east of the country, near the town of Veliko Gradište. At the centre of all events is the prome- nade, where you can find everything from shops to restaurants where you will be offered the best local specialities. The beach- es are landscaped and pebbled, with numerous children’s play- grounds and sports fields, while there is also a water park con- sisting of five pools of differing depths. Parking spaces are always available, while accommodation capacities are large, so you can choose whether to take accommodation in a hotel or one of the many holiday chalets. WHAT TO VISIT Golubac, or Golubac For- tress, dates back to medieval times and is located within the Đer- dap National Park. It consists of ten towers and two main gates, and is certainly one of Serbia’s most important cultural monu- ments. Also nearby is Ram Fortress, which is among the oldest for- tifications in the area. Be sure to visit the mouth of the River Pek.
