Yvan Bercier et Daniel Boisvenue cherchent à occuper le nouveau siège du quartier 5. Alain Mainville pour le quartier 2, Danik Forgues pour le quartier 3 et Marjorie Drolet pour le nouveau quartier 6 ont remporté leur siège au conseil par acclamation.
Les électeurs de La Nation auront deux choix pour le prochain maire de la muni- cipalité, lors du scrutin du 24 octobre. When and why change your denture Nicholas Fournier, DD N’oubliez pas de sourire Both natural teeth and dentures are subject to wear and tear over time. It is therefore normal to have to change your dentures after a certain period to maintain good dental health. So how do you know when it’s time to replace your dentures? Here are some reasons and insights to help you determine when you should take action. The signs When a patient comes to me for a denture evaluation, I look at several things. First, I check for instability at the base of the denture. I also look at the wear of the denture, since sometimes the patient is not even aware of it. I also look to see if there are any other abnormal conditions with the prosthesis. Sometimes the patient doesn’t even realize that their teeth are worn out, because they have had their dentures for so long that they have forgotten what it feels like to have new teeth! So, with this information in hand, when is it time to opt for a new denture? Avoiding long-term problems First, if you lack support, your jaw will deteriorate more quickly, causing your chin to move forward. This can lead to serious TMJ problems. Secondly, you will have more and more visible wrinkles on your face which usually does not please the patients. Another important factor to consider is that the longer you keep your old denture and get used to it, the harder it will be to change later. There are many other reasons for making the switch that can be discussed with a professional, but this information gives you a start. If you still have no idea when it is time to change your dentures, I will say it is usually between 5 and 8 years. After that time, most dentures become harmful to patients. I often see patients who have an upper denture that is more than 10 years old who say they are comfortable with it. However, such a long period of time can create long-term problems, which is something we want to avoid. I understand that many people are afraid of change and postpone it. I am not talking about making radical changes if it is not necessary, but rather to opt for something similar to what you already have in order to stabilize everything and optimize your condition. As the saying goes, prevention is better than treatment!
Three current members of council are running for re-election. Current mayor of Russell Township Pierre Leroux will be continuing in his position for four more years as no other candidates were nominated for the position of mayor. The mayor released the unofficial list of candidates on Facebook after the nomination period ended last week. “While an acclamation was not the route I was expecting to take, I am so happy knowing I get to serve our fantastic community for four more years,” Leroux said in the post. “We have some amazing projects coming up, and I’m looking forward to continuing our work with our township’s incredible and dedicated staff.” Also on the candidate list are Councillors Jamie Laurin and Mike Tarnowski, who have decided to run for re-election alongside the new candidates who are campaigning this year. Councillors Cindy Saucier and André Brisson have decided not to run for re-elec- tion this year. Alongside the current councillors, there are five candidates campaigning for a spot as councillor: Charles Armstrong, Tony Baas, Lisa Deacon, Eric Greer, and Marc Lalonde. LISTE OFFICIELLE DES CANDIDATURES AUX ÉLECTIONS La municipalité de Casselman dévoile la liste officielle des candidatures aux élections municipales. Le maire Daniel Lafleur se représente pour un deuxième mandat à la tête de la municipalité. Celui-ci fera face à Geneviève Lajoie, qui présente également sa candi- dature à la mairie. Suzanne Charette a dû retirer sa candidature de la course à la mairie pour des raisons de santé. La conseillère Francyn Leblanc et les conseillers Marcel Cléroux, Paul Groulx et Mario Laplante sont tous candidats pour un nouveau mandat au conseil municipal, de même que Sylvain Cléroux, Anik Charron et Danielle Mailhot. Le maire actuel du canton de Russell, Pierre Leroux, restera en poste pen- dant quatre années supplémentaires car aucun autre candidat n’a été dési- gné pour le poste de maire. Le maire a publié la liste officielle des candidats sur Facebook, après la fin de la période de mise en candidature, la semaine dernière. « Bien qu’une acclamation ne soit pas la voie que je m’attendais à emprunter, je suis tellement heureux de savoir que je vais pouvoir servir notre fantastique communauté pendant quatre années supplémentaires, a déclaré M. Leroux. Nous avons des projets
incroyables à venir et j’ai hâte de poursuivre notre travail avec le personnel incroyable et dévoué de notre canton. » Figurent également sur la liste des can- didats les conseillers Jamie Laurin et Mike Tarnowski, qui ont décidé de se représenter aux côtés des nouveaux candidats qui font campagne cette année. Les conseillers Cindy Saucier et André Brisson ont décidé de ne pas se représenter cette année.
