Hammond hammers Hawkesbury into the gridiron

The SFX Falcons are enjoying a good start to their football season after shutting down Hawkesbury on the field. The Falcons went up against Hawkesbury on May 5 and skunked the opposing team 14-0 with a first-quarter touchdown from quarterback EthanDonald Skinner on a two- yard dash. Placekicker Logan MacDonald booted up the extra point on the scoreboard. Halfway through the second quarter, MacDonald punted the ball into the end zone and the Falcons got a safety kick, ma- king the score 8-0. Early in the third quarter, fullback Alex Chartrand scored a five-yard touchdown

run to finish up tall for the Hammond team. Head Coach Scott Stoqua noted other “key players” during the game, with team efforts from tailback Wilson Cuevas and midlineback AdamMartel “causing all kinds
of problems for the other team’s offensive line.” The SFX Falcons have their next game of the season on May 12, at Mer Bleue in Orléans.

Les plans pour accueillir une course de motocross Enduro à Rockland, le premier week-end demai, sont malheureusement tombés à l’eau. Marc Villeneuve, porte-parole de l’événe- ment, a annoncé que les conditions météo- rologiques actuelles, avec la forte quantité de pluie déjà tombée, en plus de celle attendue cette fin de semaine, ont obligé les organi- sateurs à reporter l’événement à plus tard dans l’année. La principale préoccupation concerne la sécurité des coureurs, a déclaréMarc Ville-
neuve, lors d’une entrevue téléphonique, mercredi matin. Il a inspecté l’emplacement de la piste à Rockland et a rapporté que les récentes pluies avaient inondé certaines parties des sentiers et rendu d’autres sections trop glissantes pour les coureurs. M. Villeneuve a déclaré que les organi- sateurs envisagent de reporter la course Rockland Enduro, en tant qu’événement de compétition divertissant, plus tard dans l’année, soit à lami-juillet ou à lami-octobre, lors des périodes de compétitions régulières pour les motocross.
