Andrew McCaughey, Project Lead, says, “The project presented several significant challenges, including delivering two internationally-recognised Marriott brands within one building while ensuring each hotel maintained its own operational identity.” Planning and co-ordinating material orders from different countries and continents due to specification and brand standard requirements also required close attention, as did the logistical planning entailed in constructing on a constrained waterfront site. Ganson was also required to coordinate a large multidisciplinary design team and specialist subcontractors and manage the extensive commissioning and testing of complex building services prior to handover. “These challenges were overcome through early contractor involvement, collaborative design coordination, digital project management, phased commissioning, proactive subcontractor management and close engagement with the client and design team throughout construction,” says Andrew. “A landmark development within Belfast’s internationally-recognised
