Multiple hotel projects for Belfast
Belfast City Council’s Planning Committee has approved two new hotels at Callendar Street and Rosemary Street in the city centre. The first application would see multi-use space at Lindsay House on Callendar Street converted into a 76-bedroom hotel with a ground- floor bar and restaurant. A second project would transform office and retail space on Rosemary Street into a 30-bedroom hotel with associated facilities and café. Ryan Murphy, Chair of Belfast City Council’s Planning Committee, said, “It’s great to see plans approved that will further enhance Belfast’s tourism infrastructure, increasing accommodation capacity and providing visitors with a wider range of hotel options.” Meanwhile, further proposals include an 18-storey aparthotel featuring 136 self-catering apartments with a bar and restaurant next to Sinclair Seaman’s Church on Corporation Street, and a new 40-bedroom hotel at Fermanagh House on Ormeau Avenue. Projects already underway in the city include a new 136-unit Adagio Aparthotel on Great Victoria Street delivered by Martin & Hamilton and 98-unit Staycity Aparthotel on Wellington Place with Killowen Contracts as main contractor. www.belfastcity.gov.uk/Planning

Major housing project unveiled
TODD Architects has submitted proposals for a major new residential development at City Link Business Park, developed in close collaboration with Belfast City Council. The project will provide 253 new homes on brownfield land adjacent to the new Belfast Grand Central Station transport hub, supporting the Council’s target of 31,600 new homes by 2035. The project team includes Pragma Planning, Meelmore Consulting, MCR Consulting, Tetra Tech, AFC NI and Cavendish. Plot 1 will provide 154 build-to- rent apartments across two blocks linked
by a shared podium-level garden, one six storeys tall with gallery access and the other a 16-storey tower. Both elements are proposed in pale green pigmented pre-cast concrete with windows and balustrading in champagne-toned metalwork. Generous private balconies will be recessed into the tower and placed onto the façade of the lower form. Plots 3 and 4 will provide a further 99 affordable homes in red-brick buildings inspired by the city’s Victorian warehouses, with Plot 3 featuring a distinctive metal- clad crowning element. www.toddarch.com
Construction begins on GoT car park
Banbridge-based contractor Gibson Bros is delivering a new 150-space on-site car park set to enhance accessibility of the world’s only official Game of Thrones Studio Tour.
Representing a significant investment, the project is
expected to take approximately three months to complete and is scheduled to be operational from October 2026. The introduction of on-site parking will significantly improve accessibility and convenience for both domestic and international visitors, including the growing

number of tour groups and coach operators travelling from Belfast, Dublin and beyond. One of Northern Ireland’s leading visitor attractions, it was previously only connected via a shuttle service from The Boulevard in Banbridge.
