More than 200 construction professionals gathered at Riddel Hall, Belfast on June 2 for an inaugural Annual Conference and 81st Annual General Meeting of the Construction Employers Federation (CEF). Bringing together contractors, clients, policymakers and industry leaders, the event reflected the Federation’s growing role as the voice of Northern Ireland’s construction industry. It also saw the launch of CEF’s 2027 Northern Ireland Assembly Election Manifesto, Delivery, Not Delay, setting out the sector’s priorities ahead of the next Assembly election. The AGM marked a new chapter for the Federation with members paying tribute to outgoing President Bryan Vaughan (Vaughan Homes) for
leadership and commitment during his two-year term. Gareth Loye (Mascott Construction) is taking office as CEF president for 2026/27, with Janet Deane (Deane Public Works) elected vice president. Hosted by Sarah Travers in partnership with headline sponsor KPMG, its Co Head of Infrastructure and Government Matt King opened the conference with a valuable comparison of investment in NI versus other jurisdictions. The conference programme explored these priorities through a series of panel discussions and keynote presentations. CEF Chief Executive Mark Spence highlighted construction’s vital contribution to economic growth, public services and Northern Ireland’s transition to a more sustainable economy. He
