Woodvale Construction Company Ltd was appointed to deliver a phased redevelopment of Moville Community College, located at Carrownaff in Co Donegal on a prominent coastal site overlooking Lough Foyle. The project comprised the demolition and removal of 17 existing temporary prefabricated teaching buildings, with the existing two-storey permanent school remaining fully operational throughout the works. Careful planning, phased delivery and strict segregation ensured uninterrupted school operations for pupils and staff. A new permanent two-storey post- primary school building with a gross floor area of approximately 5,275sqm was constructed, providing modern, high-quality accommodation to support teaching, learning and specialist
educational needs. The new facility was seamlessly connected to the existing school via an enclosed first-floor link corridor. Throughout the project, Woodvale Construction worked in close collaboration with the design team, client representatives, school leadership team and the wider project stakeholders to manage the complexity of the live school environment, challenging ground conditions and the exposed coastal setting. This collaborative approach ensured the successful delivery of the project to programme and quality expectations. The new building features 10 general classrooms, eight specialist teaching rooms, a dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) suite with SEN classrooms and a PE hall with supporting accommodation.
