KIDS SUMMER FISHING TOURNAMENT Sunday, June 14 | $15 | 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. | Beaverdam Park

THE FULL HIKE 3rd Saturdays | $5 | 7:45 a.m. | Ranger Station

For ages 5-15 with an adult. We are hosting a Fishing Tournament for youth at Beaverdam! There will be shore & boat fishing divisions. All children who compete will be eligible to win prizes. Rental fees, where applicable, will apply. Deadline June 7.

For ages 16 and older. Beaverdam has beautiful trails where you can enjoy the flora and fauna of Gloucester. The Multi-use Trail runs from Beaverdam Park’s main entrance to the Farys Mill Road entrance (FMR). We will shuttle you to FMR and drop you off at the trail so that you can hike, self-guided, the approximately 9-miles back to the Beaverdam Main Entrance. Hike is roughly 3 hours (at a 4 miles/hour pace). Meet at the Beaverdam Ranger Station, shuttle leaves at 8:00 am. Take your time, take it all in, just complete your hike by 5:30 pm and check out at the Ranger Station (in person or call 804-693-2107). Dress for the weather and in sturdy shoes (no open toe, open back, slides or flip flops). Bring water, snacks/food and binoculars and camera if you like. The following Sunday will be the rain date. SUMMER SALTWATER FISHING WORKSHOP Saturday, June 13 | $15 |9 a.m. - 1 p.m. | Beaverdam Park

CANOE JAM Saturday, June 13 | 8:00 - 11:00am | $25 ($30 for late registration) | Beaverdam Park Beaverdam will again be the site of the competitive canoe and kayak races that make up the Canoe Jam. Long (4 miles) and short (2 miles) races are open to one and two person canoes and kayaks. Additional ‘Fun Paddle’ will be held for non-competitors. Registration/check-in starts at 8 a.m. The first race is off at 9 a.m. Fees are $20 if received before June 1 and $25 after June 1. Early registrants will receive a T-shirt! An awards ceremony will follow the 11 a.m. Four Person Sprint race. For more information check out the catalog or contact Karla Havens at (804)366-1768. For ages 12-15. Lunch is NOT provided for this camp. Join park staff to learn about saltwater fishing at Machicomoco State Park. You will learn about the fish that are found in the river, the basics of fishing, appropriate baits, safety and the rules of fishing. Bring your pole or we have some to borrow. Meet at Beaverdam Park Ranger Station. Deadline June 6.

PARK AFTER DARK Fridays | 8-11 p.m. | $5 | Ranger Station

For ages 16 and older. The after dark hours are generally for the residents of the park! Join us as we keep the gates open late for you to experience the beauty and activity of the park at night. You can take a self-guided night hike, a self-guided bike ride or hit the lake for boating, kayaking or canoeing (all regular launch and rental fees apply). All activities require head lamps.

You must check-in and check-out at Ranger Station. Dates: June 26 – deadline 6/19. July 10 – deadline 7/3. August 21 – deadline 8/14.

KIDS FREE FISHING DAY Sunday, June 7 | 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. | FREE | Smith Shelter

For ages 5-15. The Department of Wildlife Resources & Beaverdam Park are sponsoring a free day of fishing for children. We will provide poles and bait to participants. After fishing, we will enjoy a hotdog lunch. A limited number of rental poles are available for adults. Parents must stay with children. Registration required. Deadline May 31.
