The Rosé Route of Provence
F or me, summer in Provence will always be as- sociated with rosé. It belongs naturally to the region, alongside the vineyards, olive groves, vil- lage cafés and long Provençal lunches. One of the pleasures of traveling here is how well you eat almost everywhere. Even the smallest café or village restaurant can serve wonderful food with a local rosé as its table wine, often from a producer you have never heard of, and it can be surprisingly good. Then there are the famous estates, whose names and pale pink bottles you recognize from home. Visiting them and tasting the wines where they are made became part of the journey. Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is one of my favorite towns in the region. To me, it feels like the heart of Provence, with a beautiful old town, charming streets and lovely Provençal shops filled with lin- ens, ceramics, baskets and things you inevitably want to bring home. Through vineyards, villages and the pale pink wines of Provence.
