Q What’s the most popular item you sell? What’s the one prepared food item that people MUST try when they shop at the Farmers Market? A This is a hard one. Everyone has their favorites. We always say that our store is so small we can only keep items around that sell quickly and are popular. We have a freezer full of prepared foods and everything is delicious! We make chicken salad daily and most days UXQRXWVRWKDWLVGH¿QLWHO\DELJKLW$OVRRXUKRPHPDGHYDQLOODLFH cream is a favorite. We sell a ton of our homemade salsas and when we run out people have been known to cry. Q Who are some local suppliers that sell through you and what do they provide? A The most popular thing we sell by an outside local source would be Darkcove goat cheese. We have sold this for probably 20 years. We sell it out of the freezer in pint containers and customers always want to “stock up” on it. We also sell fresh local eggs, goat milk soap (Uddermudder), many baked goods (the Chocolate Heaven Company, Lotsa Loaves), trout dip and smoked trout (Sunburst) honey (Killer Bee), in the summertime pretty much all of our produce is local. We try to stay local as much as we can. Many of our products are made in Asheville and surrounding areas. Q How many pounds of BBQ do you normally sell per month during the high season?
A We smoke over 6,400 pounds of pork during the busy months. Do people ever ask to buy your dogs? A Oh yes, they do! We tell them “They are priceless.”
