Canada Summer Jobs deadline extended intend to return to their studies the following year. This allows students to gain valuable work experience, while also being able to earn money to pay for their educations. This program simultaneously encourages students, small businesses, non-profit and community development.
“I encourage Glengarry-Prescott-Russell not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses to apply for funding through the Canada Summer Jobs program,” said Francis Drouin, MP for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell. “Helping young Canadians develop their skills and gain va- luable workplace experience will ensure a strong economy and a healthymiddle class.” Non-profit employers are eligible to re- ceive up to 100 per cent of the provincial or territorial minimumhourly wage, while pu- blic-sector employers and small businesses with 50 or fewer full-time employees are eligible for up to 50 per cent. All employers may be eligible for additional funding of up to $3000 per student with disabilities. Since 2016, the federal government has increased its investments in the Canada Summer Jobs Program, by allocating an additional $339 million over three years.

The Canada Summer Jobs 2018 application period has been extended until Friday, February 9. All non-profit organizations, public-sec- tor employers and small businesses with up to 50 employees are eligible to apply for fun- ding from the federal government through this program. In Glengarry-Prescott-Russell, the priority sectors focus on tourism, culture, non-profit organizations, small businesses, agriculture and francophone stakeholder groups.
