TAKING ACTION
Town of Wake Forest | HOUSING AFFORDABILITY PLAN
Strategy 3: Build Capacity and Partnerships
Coordination with Wake County
Program Overview The Town should coordinate with Wake County to better connect Wake Forest residents to existing Wake County programs, build upon existing housing programs to prevent redundancies and inefficiencies and leverage a larger pool of resources and expertise for housing programs and affordable housing development.
How Does it Work?
Leveraging Wake County Resources: • Pool LIHTC gap funding • Expand owner-occupied rehab program • Layer down payment assistance • Promote housing programs to the community
Collaboration Opportunities: • Annual goal-setting workshops
• Quarterly check-ins between Wake County and Town • Semiannual joint town hall meetings with the community
IMPLEMENTATION
1. Formalize recurring channels of communication between Town and Wake County staff. 2. Understand the roster of housing and finance programs and resources that Wake County has already created and made available to residents of Wake Forest. 3. Identify additional Wake County programs that could be bolstered with the support of the Town. 4. Outline a collaboration agenda between the Town and Wake County to identify areas of potential synergy.
