Occupational Health & Safety Safety at work is a fundamental priority at Sofap. The company believes all workplace accidents and injuries are preventable and is committed to fostering a zero-injury culture across all departments and operations. Strict compliance with health & safety regulations is maintained at all times. Sofap upholds a robust governance framework for health & safety through its Health & Safety Committee. The committee comprises the Group Health & Safety Manager, on-site Health & Safety Officer, employee representatives, management representatives, and designated safety champions. The committee meets regularly, at least every two months, with additional fortnightly internal reviews to monitor safety performance and address key health & safety matters across the organisation. Meetings may also be convened earlier, upon members’ request, to respond promptly to urgent issues.
Safety Training and Awareness The majority of employees undergo annual mandatory safety training, while others receive role-specific and periodic training. In 2025 , a total of 79 hours were dedicated to health and safety training across six targeted sessions, covering: • Occupational Health & Safety Risk Assessment • First Aid (Prévention et Secours Civiques) • Fire Safety (theoretical and practical) • Emergency Response Team training • Proper use of PPE • Chemical safety for washbay operators • Forklift safety instruction • Employee accommodation safety compliance (for expatriates) A particular focus was placed on enhancing PPE usage, fire prevention, and emergency preparedness.
Key Health and Safety Initiatives Safety Performance
Sofap’s health & safety approach is built around prevention, training, and continuous improvement. Key initiatives include: • A structured induction programme for all new employees • Provision of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) based on job-specific risks • Regular fire safety and emergency drills • Mandatory job-specific training, including working at heights, high-voltage safety, machinery operation, and chemical handling • Incident investigations focused on root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions • Safety talks with contractors to address site- specific hazards • Annual health surveillance (including blood tests and audiometric testing), reviewed by an occupational physician • Routine equipment inspections and preventive maintenance, supported by daily operational checks • Ongoing risk assessments to minimise workplace incidents and occupational health risks
The company recorded 12 workplace injuries in 2025, compared to 9 in 2024 . This increase is being closely monitored, with reinforced preventive actions and awareness programmes implemented to improve safety outcomes going forward.
