Oracle APRIL 2018 Final

ADOPT A NEW OWNER The Communication Committee continues to focus on building relationships throughout the resort. Our main focus this year was “how to better communicate with new owners.” We feel we have made great strides in this area and we continue to seek ways to make their transition into Outdoor Resort smooth. This year we hosted Lunch and Learn Sessions for New Owners. The Lunch and Learn sessions were so popular that we opened them up to all interested owners and next season sessions are already planned. If you are a new owner from this past season 2017, please consider joining our Adopt a New Owner Program. We think that if each new owner in 2018 has a designated person to go to for information, their transition would be easier. Contact: orpscommunication@gmail.com if you are interested in learning more about this program. NEW OWNERS DATABASE Over the season we have worked closely with the front office staff to create a database that gives us the information we need to welcome new owners. NEW OWNERS POTLUCK MARCH 14 The final event for new owners this season was held in The Owners Lounge. We had over 30 people attend and all were happy to get acquainted with others and meet some Board Members and our General Manager. Many had just closed on their deals in 2018! 2018 OWNER’S RESOURCE GUIDE We have just about completed a new version of the 2018 Owners Guide. This has been a huge project as we needed to check and double check with so many committees, Board members and ORPS staff to ensure the information contained is accurate and up-to-date. We delayed the updating until all the Governing Documents were approved. It will be posted on our website soon. Paper copies available next season. COMMUNITY BUILDING AND COMMUNICATION As well as our hard-working dedicated Phase Representatives, all ORPS owners are invited to attend our first meeting November 5, 2018 . We won’t ask for you to commit to anything, we will just want to share our exciting plans for next season. November 5, 2018 Owners Lounge 10AM to noon Have a happy, healthy summer and we will see you in the fall!

Communications Committee Executive: 2018-2019 Chair: J OAN C RAVEN Vice-Chair: J UDY F ROESE Secretary: D AVE D UTHIE ORPSCOMMUNICATIONS@GMAIL.COM We hosted a seminar called Estate Planning, with a focus on out-of-state and out of country planning. Over 70 people attended. Lawyer J OSEPH A DELIZZI , an attorney from Encinitas gave valuable information as well as excellent handouts. He answered questions and we are hoping he is able to come again next season. Some questions would be better answered by a Californian Tax Accountant so if anyone knows of someone who specializes in this area please let us know. CONNECTING WITH OUR COMMUNITY The committee has worked to improve our interaction with the community as a whole. The Oracle, the Neighborhood Picnics, the Candidates Forum, receptionist for Photo Directory session are just some of the many ways we have presented ourselves. We have also worked to update our documentation so that the next communication executive has a detailed road map of expectations regarding our committee. We want clearly defined processes and procedures. We will be planning over the summer to see if there is a different way to organize our committee so we can be more effective . As a communication committee, we challenge ourselves to think strategically and ask: what is our role, are the events that have been traditionally held each year beneficial, does the name Phase Reps accurately describe our role, how can we create a good experience for our volunteer committee members, where are the gaps, what works, what does not, how do we work with the Marketing Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee?
