Le risque de ce type de sau- vetage est faible et le dernier incident de ce genre à Hawkesbury remonte à 2005. Le service des incendies de Lachute possède déjà l’équipement et le personnel formé nécessaires pour de telles situations et la municipalité est prête à aider dans de tels cas. – Gregg Chamberlain MUNICIPAL INSURANCE The Town of Hawkesbury renewed its municipal insurance policy with BFL at a cost of $545,435 plus eight per cent provincial tax in total premiums. The amount represents a 19.8-per cent increase over last year’s policy due to increases in the costs for insuring municipal property and protecting and compensating the municipality for cybe- rattack incidents.– Gregg Chamberlain

Après avoir servi Hawkesbury pendant près d’une décennie, la famille Laplante a vendu ses concessions automobiles en ville, choisissant de se concentrer sur le développement de ses entreprises à Casselman et Embrun. Le Groupe automobile Laplante, pro- priété de Jacques Laplante et géré par ses trois enfants, est en activité depuis 1954. L’entreprise familiale de trois générations était propriétaire des concessionnaires Buick, GMC, Chevrolet et Cadillac de la rue Main à Hawkesbury jusqu’au 13 juin, date à laquelle tout a été vendu à Maxime Allard de Ste-Marie Automobiles Ltée de Saint-Rémi, Québec, ainsi que son centre de collision Carstar. « Je suis maintenant à la retraite. J’ai 71 ans, alors les enfants vont se concentrer sur les autres emplacements, a déclaré Jacques Laplante, président du Groupe automobile Laplante. » M. Laplante n’hésite pas à remercier Hawkesbury et les communautés environ- nantes, soulignant l’accueil chaleureux qui leur a été réservé lorsqu’ils ont ouvert leur concession en 2013. Une façon pour M. Laplante de rendre la pareille était de s’assurer que chacun de ses 40 employés se voyait offrir un contrat de travail avec les nouveaux propriétaires, avant d’accepter de vendre. Malgré la hausse des taux d’intérêt, l’inflation galopante et les perturbations de la chaîne d’approvisionnement qui touchent tous les constructeurs, M. One student will welcome visitors to Vankleek Hill, and the other will pro- mote businesses and operate a digital marketing campaign. Thanks to funding from Champlain Township and the Canada Summer Jobs QSPHSBN UIF8JOETPS5BWFSOXJMMCFIPTUJOH a tourist info centre during July and August, operated by the Vankleek Hill Business and Merchant Association (VKBMA). According to VKBMA co-chair Philippe Fortin, the associa- tion will hire two students to run the centre for the eight weeks it is open. One student will work in the info centre, welcoming tourists to the village and introdu- cing new residents to the rich history of the 225-year-old village. The other student will visit local businesses to offer promotion help and operate a digital marketing campaign for the info centre. 8IJMFUIFDFOUSFQSPKFDUJTHPJOHPO UIF VKBMA will also work to bring new events and visitors to the village this summer, including guest speakers on a variety of
