passing of Walter Cholowski, a co-organizer of our campaign and the first president of our environmental association. Walter was passionate and extremely hard working in his opposition to the pro- posed Taggart-Miller landfill at the North Russell quarry site. He loved the beautiful red soil and the flora and fauna of the area. This community is indebted to Walter for stepping up, organizing and leading others to protect and preserve the quarry lake, the groundwater and the surrounding farm- land and communities, to leave a legacy for future generations. He left us all too soon! We extend our deepest sympathies to his wife, Margrit, and the whole Cholowski family. Harry Baker Russell
