Expertise: Cross cultural issues in child development, family involvement, family and social policy, place-based and nature-based early childhood education

Summary of Study: Recognizing that the earlier children are exposed to learning about the environment, the more likely they develop a lifelong commitment to it. Given that, should the preschool curriculum tilt toward a different consciousness? If so, then the exposure to learning about the environment must go beyond simply providing children with opportunities but must assist children with understanding key concepts. Dr. Ogunnaike’s background in observational research in early childhood education provides a unique combination of expertise that will be helpful to my investigation.
