String snapped The Bob Hanes rink from Alexandria posted its first win in the Inter-Club Curling League Wednesday at Hawkesbury, knock- ing off previously undefeated Hawkesbury 1, skipped by Ghislain Lascelles, 7-3 in sev- en ends. Meanwhile, the Vankleek Hill rink, with Bruce Mode calling the shots, downed Hawkesbury 2, skipped by JimMaloney, 8-3 in seven ends. Round-robin play continues Tuesday at the Vankleek Hill Curling Club. The league voted unanimously in favour of the Vankleek Hill facility. The dressing rooms and facilities plus the Vankleek Hill warm welcome are always appreciated by the teams, relates league director Richard Charest. It will be the North versus the South Divisions, as each team supplies players to complete the All Star rosters. The annual awards for the regular sea- son will be presented between the second and third periods on the ice. The league stats show that player nominations should be close as many players have excelled in several categories. VANKLEEK HILL | The Vankleek Hill Ju- nior Cougars will host the National Capi- tal Junior Hockey League All Star Game Sunday, February 17 at 8 p.m. at the Vankleek Hill Community Centre.
