Making girls feel like princesses

Two local bridal makeup artists have therefore joined forces to help 26 young women fromCornwall and surroundings realize their perfect prom. The duo, comprised of Karley Gagnon (owner of Hott Stylz) and Allison Bélanger (owner of PoppinMakeup andMore), is an odd pair, for they technically are competitors. “We both operate our businesses fromLong Sault,” explained Gagnon. “It’s a limited market, so we’re competitors,” added Bélanger. “But if I don’t have enough time

for clients, I point them in Karley’s direction.” The initiative, officially called the SD&G Makeover Project, is an extensive one, having been in the works for quite some time.“We have 13 high schools in S,D and G, explained Gagnon. “We’re going to be selecting two girls from every high school to receive a glamorized prom makeover. They’re going to be getting their hair done, makeup, nails, corsage, catering and gifts. Besides their wedding, for young girls, their prom is the most glamorous and epic moment in their lives.” The winners will be chosen through a

simple nomination process. One of their peers must first like the duo’s Facebook page and then email thema 100-word letter as to why they should be awarded themakeover. “Anyone can nominate you,” said Bélanger. “It can either be your mother, father, brother, aunt, uncle, a fellow student or even a teacher.” “We really are encouraging teachers to submit nominations of students,” quickly added Gagnon. “They really know their students.” The two have so far received several nominations and they have all thoroughly

Prom night is seen by many young girls as a magical, almost fairytale-like event. Donning dresses and pretty shoes, they apply makeup to their faces, various colors to their lips and spend hours perfecting their hair.
