For the renovation of Hotel Kansas City, the judges admired the large and small intricate details of the historic preservation project, including the lobby’s ceiling, millwork, and windows. The designers did a great job restoring the building’s original features and blending the new elements with the existing. The lighting-as-art installation in the lobby, in particular, stands as a focal point, but also complements the other new and old details present throughout the room.
