CR GHOSTBUSTERS TO HOLD RALLY FOR UKRAINE

“As a community group in Clarence- Rockland, we feel that it is our duty to plan and organize a peaceful and safe gathering, where people can express their support for Ukraine and voice their wishes for a quick end to this senseless and terrible war,” the Ghostbusters said. “The rally will include a few speakers from the community and an opportunity for those who wish to contribute are encouraged to donate to the Canadian Red cross, of which will also be available on site.” The Ghostbusters requested to hold the rally in front of Clarence-Rockland City Hall at 2 p.m. on March 20.
Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters for Ukraine! The Clarence-Rockland Ghostbusters of Upper Canada are planning a community rally to show support for Ukraine. Since February, Ukraine has weathered an invasion by Russian forces, leading to widespread support for Ukraine and widespread sanc- tions for Russia. Governments, businesses, organizations, and community groups around the world have proclaimed their support for Ukraine, including the CR Ghostbusters.

Après avoir remporté cinq victoires consécutives, les Nationals de Rockland sont revenus sur terre cette semaine, ayant perdu deux de leurs trois derniers matchs. Les Nats ont subi un revers contre les Braves de Brockville (3-2), avant de l’emporter contre les Raiders de Nepean (6-3), pour finalement s’incli- ner contre les Wolves de Renfrew (8-4). Les Nationals ont subi une défaite crève- cœur contre les Braves de Brockville mardi dernier. Les Braves ont été les premiers à s’inscrire au pointage, mais les Nats ont répliqué avec deux buts pour prendre une avance de 2-1 avant la fin du premier enga- gement. William Collins a inscrit son 9e but de la saison pour les Nats, aidé par Giovanni Morneau et Yanic Crête pour créer l’égalité. Morneau a ensuite donné l’avance à son équipe pour la première fois du match en inscrivant son 19e but de la saison. Crête et Collins ont obtenu des mentions d’aide sur le jeu. Malheureusement pour Rockland, Luke Tchor a créé l’égalité alors qu’il restait un peu plus de deux minutes à écouler au match, et c’est Caleb Kean qui a finalement donné la victoire à Brockville en inscrivant le but vainqueur en prolongation. Raiders 3 Nationals 6 Les Nationals avaient une belle occasion de rebondir vendredi, alors qu’ils accueil- laient la dernière équipe au classement général de la CCHL, les Raiders de Nepean. Les Nats ont complètement dominé la ren- contre au chapitre des tirs au but, dirigeant 44 tirs contre le filet des Raiders contre seulement 27 pour Nepean, pour finalement l’emporter par la marque de 6-3. The first game saw the FUN3 Falcons face off against the Upper Ottawa Valley Armstrongs. Although they put up a fierce fight, they lost to the Armstrongs at a score of 6-4. The second game pitted the U12B Falcons against the Nepean Kennedys. The game was no competition, and the Falcons won
with a score of 4-0. The last game saw the U12C Falcons crush Ottawa’s Team Dubois. Although the Ottawa players tried to claw their way back, they ultimately succumbed, and the Falcons won 7-2. “Thank you for supporting us last fall and hopefully you’ll be available to support again,” stated the CCRA. “We welcome and invite friends, family and the community to come out to support the CRRA Falcons.”

VOLANT HOLD OFF CASTORS

The Gatineau-Hull Volant put more pres- sure on the Clarence Creek Castors this week, even winning one game at home on Sunday to stave off their elimination. After winning the first two games pretty convincingly, the Castors faced a little more adversity against the Volant last weekend. The game in Clarence Creek on Saturday went down to the wire, with both teams scoring four goals during regulation and the Castors finally burying the game-winner in the second period of overtime to take a 3-0 lead in the series. The next game was more one-sided, and the Volant managed to take game four at home by out-scoring the visiting team 4-1. After winning eleven straight games to end their season and sweeping the Metcalfe Jets in the first round, it seems like the Castors are finally facing some resistance in the second round of the playoffs. However, Castors’ Head Coach Tim Kosch is not surprised with the Volant’s perfor- mance last weekend: “This is the team we were expecting to play against” said Kosch, “It was do or die for them, and they played with that desperation. They played really solid defensively, and they were the better team on Sunday.” But Coach Kosch believes his team will be able to learn from the loss and take it as an opportunity to build character: “In a way, I see it as a good loss. I see it as a learning opportunity. With the success we’ve been having this season, it’s good to realize that we can’t just coast our way to victory. If we take our foot off the gas, we can lose games in this league. We just need to stay composed and stick to our system, which is the whole reason for our success this year.”

Request for Quotation No. PM-22-027 Grass Cutting & Trimming
The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario invites interested contractors to submit a quotation for the grass cutting and trimming services for the 2022 school year, with the provision for an option to extend the contract for an additional one-year contract. The Board has 37 locations in the counties of Dundas, Glengarry, Grenville, Lanark, Leeds, Prescott, Russell and Stormont. The Board requires the contractors to have a policy of General Liability Insurance issued by an insurance company incorporated or licensed to conduct insurance business in the province of Ontario during the entire contract period. The Board must be listed as an “additional insured” on the General Liability Insurance of the contractor with limits of not less than five million dollars ($5,000,000) (or $2,000,000.00 with at least $3,000,000.00 in umbrella clauses) and inclusive per occurrence for bodily injury, death, and damage to property, including loss of use thereof. The liability insurance policies shall contain an endorsement to provide named insured with prior notice of change and cancellations. If applicable, the contractor shall submit to the Board at the time of entering into the contract, a Certificate of Clearance from the Workplace Safety Insurance Board. The Board shall only accept bid submissions from contractors operating commercial mowers and tractors (over 20HP) equipped with roll over protective structures (ROPS), seat belts, required safety shields and guards. Bids will only be accepted from contractors who register by contacting Dan Tackaberry, Facilities Planning Coordinator at 613-714-6410, fax: 613-283-5783, or by email at dan.tackaberry@cdsbeo.on.ca. A list of all facilities will be sent to all registered contractors for review. Registered contractors must advise the Facilities Planning Coordinator of the site or sites of interest. Contractors will then be notified when the quotation packages are ready for pick-up. If required, the Plant Operations Supervisors will organize site meetings to be held the week of April 4-8, 2022. Requests must be submitted no later than Tuesday, March 29, 2022. Questions and clarifications will be accepted until Tuesday, April 26, 2022. Bid submissions to be emailed and must be marked “RFQ #PM-22-027 – Grass Cutting & Trimming” will be received by: Dan Tackaberry, Facilities Planning Coordinator Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario email at: dan.tackaberry@cdsbeo.on.ca Quotations will be received no later than 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, April 28, 2022. The Board reserves the right to accept or reject any or all quotations received and to determine in its own best judgment, the best qualified contractors to undertake these services.
