Year 8 Reflection

In Term 2, the Year 8s have been involved in many exciting and memorable events, making it a busy and enjoyable term for everyone. Students have had opportunities to participate in activities involving the performing arts, media, leadership, and sport, allowing everyone to develop new skills and create lasting memories with their peers. At the beginning of the term, on the 30th of April, students from 8B and 8C travelled into the city to watch the incredible one-man play The Bookbinder. The performance amazed students as a single actor brought an entire story to life through acting, storytelling, and creative use of props. Many students found the excursion entertaining and inspiring, while also gaining a greater appreciation for live theatre and performance. The very next day, on the 1st of May, students from 8A and 8C watched the film Edward Scissorhands for their Media CAT. The movie gave students the opportunity to analyse film techniques, themes, and characters while also enjoying the unique and imaginative storyline. It was a fun and engaging learning experience for everyone involved. Many Year 8 students have also participated in Development Programs throughout the term. On the 29th of May, the Dance Development Program visited the Primary Campus to teach Prep to Year 4 students the finale dance for the upcoming Song, Dance, and Drama Night, The Musical Multiverse. The Year 8 students demonstrated fantastic leadership, teamwork, and enthusiasm while helping the younger students prepare for the performance. Finally, on the 28th of May, many Year 8 students represented the school in Interschool Netball and Soccer. The boys’ soccer team won one game and showed excellent determination throughout the competition, while the girls’ netball team finished third overall after winning two games, drawing one, and losing two. Overall, Term 2 has been full of exciting opportunities and achievements for the Year 8 cohort.
