L’entreprise, Plastiq.com, fondée en 2012 aux États-Unis, permet d’acquitter des créances par carte de crédit, là où ce n’est habituellement pas possible. Cela inclut notamment les taxes dans diverses municipalités ou autres formes de gouvernements, les taxes scolaires, etc. En 2013, l’Agence du revenu du Canada (ARC) a autorisé l’utilisation de Plastiq pour payer certains soldes dus à l’ARC. Toutefois, l’agence souligne que cette autorisation ne constitue pas pour autant un endossement de l’entreprise. Selon Yvan Ruel, la Ville prend cette affaire très au sérieux, et a remis l’affaire

La Ville de Hawkesbury a récemment été alertée des activités d’une entre- prise offrant aux contribuables de payer leurs taxes foncières à l’aide d’une carte de crédit. «Nous avons été avisés par le canton de Champlain de ce fait », a rapporté Yvan Ruel, coordonnateur des communications à la Ville de Hawkesbury. Après avoir vérifié et constaté sur le site de Plastiq.com qu’ils se présentaient comme des partenaires de confiance de la Ville, « nous avons averti la PPO et publié un communiqué ». Cette avocate franco-ontarienne occupait le poste de sous-ministre adjointe au ministère des Affaires francophones de 2014 à janvier 2019, ainsi que les fonctions de sous-ministre adjointe au ministère des Collèges et Le canton d’Alfred-Plantagenet a émis un avertissement aux résidents de la région au sujet d’une fraude téléphonique. Une personne qui prétend représenter le ministère de la Justice du canton d’Alfred- Plantagenet appelle et demande aux gens de confirmer leur numéro d’assu- rance sociale. Pour la mairesse de Hawkesbury, Paula Assaly, il faut entre autres resserrer les liens avec la popu- lation, faire croitre le parc résidentiel de la ville et, bien sûr, réduire les taxes. «Un des grands succès de 2019 est que l’administration a réussi à préparer le budget suffisamment tôt pour permettre son adoption dès janvier, explique Paula Assaly, Le budget de 2020 a été adopté en décembre dernier.» Pour la dirigeante de la municipalité de 13 000 personnes, cela permet «des économies substantielles en temps et en argent», du fait que les appels d’offres sont orchestrés en début d’année, l’administration pouvant ainsi «travailler sur ses plans d’affaires». L’amélioration des communications fait également partie des priorités de la mai- resse. À ce chapitre, elle souligne l’arrivée d’Yvan Ruel au poste de coordonnateur des communications. The estimates include final enrolment figures and all related changes to expense estimates since the district approved its proposed budget in June. CDSBEO enrolment increased 1.5 per cent compared to the 2018-2019 term, and total expenses expected for 2019-2020 are about $189.2 million. La MRC d’Argenteuil a donné, le 9 jan- vier dernier, le coup d’envoi du 22e Défi OSEntreprendre. L’objectif est de faire rayonner les initia- tives entrepreneuriales de la région en plus d’inspirer un grand nombre de personnes à croire en elles et à oser entreprendre. Les années passées, plusieurs projets d’affaires de la région se sont démarqués sur les plans régional et national. En 2019, la MRC a reçu 10 inscriptions, soit neuf pour le volet Création d’entreprise ainsi qu’une inscription pour le volet Réussite inc. Les entrepreneurs de la région d’Argen- teuil, âgés de 18 ans ou plus, ayant l’inten- tion de se lancer en affaires en 2020 ou dont l’entreprise a obtenu ses premiers revenus après le 1er avril 2019, sont admissibles au concours sous les volets Création d’entreprise ou Réussite inc.
