The Solution: The idea is to avoid becoming a host by strengthening your immune system. I take and recommend the following supplements to do so: Standard Process Supplements: Many store-bought supplements are synthetic, lab-altered, pharmaceutically re-engineered chemical fractions of foods. Because your body does not recognize them as a food source, absorption is low, and a majority is left unprocessed and released during urination. Standard Process supplements are whole food supplements containing the natural vitamins, trace minerals, and enzymes recognized by your body as food and absorbed. Individualized Testing for an appropriate dosage is available in my office, eliminating the guesswork and saving you money. Immuplex: Every flu season, my staff and I take this supplement. It is designed to help stimulate production of antibodies, those killer cells that attack invaders. As a result, my staff and I do not get the flu. Many of you also report less sickness while taking this supplement.

Strengthening Your Immune System (Part 2)

One of the best ways for all of us to stay healthy is to create a healthy lifestyle that strengthens our immune system and protects us from sickness. This is not just for pandemics, like COVID-19. Did you ever notice that not everyone gets the flu or catches a cold in the winter? Those who don’t get infected have a stronger immune system. The Problem: A virus is an infective agent looking for a host: you. It is not actually alive. Its sole purpose is to

multiply to produce more viruses in your body, and the result is sickness. When exposed to a virus, your immune system produces antibodies, which are killer cells that attack invaders. They’re like a unique police force inside your body, going to work when needed. Over time, your body builds a memory of which antibodies are needed for each invader, helping you build a strong, on- call immune response.

The Medicalizati of Back Pain

I read an article dated Jan. 18, 2020, in The Economist, a magazine from London, that’s aimed at business leaders across the world. It outlined the huge amounts spent on treatment for back and neck pain with little if any benefit to patients. The Problem: We all know that back pain can be miserable to experience. In most countries with reliable research, back pain is the top cause of disability. Costs for treatment have been rising. As far back as 2013, a study showed $88 billion was spent on medical treatment for back and neck pain in America. This figure is not that far short of the $115 billion spent on cancer treatment. According to this article, a great deal of this money spent seems sadly to do little good. According to studies cited in this article, a definitive physical cause , such as a fracture, tumor, or infection was found in only 5%–15% of people with

back pain. All the rest of these back pain patients were labeled as “nonspecific” with no known cause. This inability to identify a definitive physical cause for back and neck pain throws into doubt a great deal of medical treatment currently used in America. Evidence of ineffectiveness has not stopped doctors from writing prescriptions for over-the-counter drugs and opioids, despite the associated risks of side effects, addiction, and death. In 2011, Cigna, a large American insurance company, ran a follow-up study on spinal fusion patients. They found that two years after treatment, 87% of patients with back pain were still in pain that was severe enough that they needed ongoing medication and other treatment; 15% had more surgery. The Solution: As a chiropractic patient in my office, a definitive physical cause for your back and neck pain had to be identified in order for me to accept
