Precision Cables on the road again in 2023 MARTIN SMYTH, SALES EXECUTIVE AT PRECISION CABLES, TALKS ABOUT CHANGES IN THE INDUSTRY AND THE COMPANY’S PLANS FOR THIS YEAR, INCLUDING A NATIONWIDE ROADSHOW…

A s one of Precision Cable’s chief technical experts on Data & Components, Martin Smyth is always in demand with customers and suppliers alike. In a quick Q & A, we ask Martin about his career to date, the industry changes he has witnessed and his outlook for the company this year. IEM: Can you tell us a little about your role and career to date? MS: As Sales Executive with Precision Cables, my role is focused on specialist knowledge of the many product lines we carry. From electrical and data

cables to complementary components, our customers rely on our advice to select the right product based on performance, specification and

regulatory requirements.

IEM: What have been the biggest changes you have seen in the industry recently? MS: There have been a few noticeable shifts that have shaped the industry. The change to the Irish wiring regulations when we moved from PVC to LSF was a significant adjustment. It may also come as no surprise, but Brexit was a real challenge as there were considerable knock-on effects in terms of supplier logistics. Being able to rapidly adapt to change is key in this industry.

“Being able to rapidly adapt to change is key in this industry.”
