WIRING

IEM: Which achievements in your career are you especially proud of? MS: We all celebrate the wins in Precision Cables, it is truly a team effort. Personally, winning contracts on world- leading projects such as Facebook’s Fibonacci Square and Intel in Kildare are particularly satisfying moments. Achieving the seal of approval on class- leading infrastructure projects like those mentioned is a great validation of our work. IEM: What does 2023 look like for you at Precision Cables? MS: It’s looking like a very busy year ahead. We are hitting the road with our Precision Cables Roadshow, which will be visiting a range of wholesalers nationwide. It will be great to reconnect with the trade and professionals alike. It’s been a few years (mainly due to Covid) since we were able to meet our industry colleagues in such a fashion, so we are really looking forward to seeing everyone in the coming year.

Make the right choice

P recision Cables are the sole Prysmian Group’s latest release: the CableApp. This handy and easy-to-use cable calculator tool was designed to help electrical professionals select the best cables for each project and installation. The app is suitable for a range of applications, including distributors of Prysmian cables in Ireland and recommend the making electrical improvements such as adding new supplies to outbuildings and electric vehicle charging points or refitting shops or office spaces. CableApp includes information on a variety of cables, including Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSOH) cables, fire performance cables such as FP200 Gold, and low voltage armoured cables such as BS 5467. The app provides peace of mind to designers, installers and their clients as it is fully compliant with the latest wiring regulations, including BS 7671 (18th Edition, Amendment 2).

Sustainability in mind Making more sustainable choices is high on the agenda, especially in the construction industry. CableApp can calculate the total savings on energy bills or potential reductions in CO 2 emissions by evaluating the use of alternative cable sizes.

Other key benefits CableApp also generates

datasheets, allowing designers and installers to get full access to information on each product. Users are able to save, print, and share the results of each cable calculation, saving time and allowing them to instantly collaborate with colleagues and suppliers to get the job done quicker and easier. CableApp is available on desktop and may be downloaded free on mobile or tablet from the Play Store or the App store.
