After our pediatric patients walk through therapy, they are more confident, engaging with the world around them and taking on tasks they wouldn’t have been before. If you’re worried about not being home with your kids during the summer to transport them to and from Therapy, know that we offer remote Telehealth services, meaning your child can receive Therapy anywhere with anyone over a computer screen. For more information and help addressing your child’s Therapy needs, give our office a call at (229)273-9445. “Brooklyn was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) at 10 weeks old. She started therapy at Southwest Georgia Rehab when she was 4 months old. She is now 23 months old, and because we are in quarantine during the Covid-19 pandemic, “Miss” Krystal, “Miss” Brittany, and “Miss” Stephanie have been checking in with us through telehealth, giving us ideas and exercises to use with Brooklyn until we can get back in the clinic. The therapists and staff at SWGA FYZICAL Rehab are so patient with Brooklyn, and they go above and beyond to help her achieve her goals. They are truly the best of the best, and we are so thankful to have them on Brooklyn’s team!” www.fyzical.com/cordele | www.fyzical.com/vienna-ga

Do you ever experience worry when summer comes, knowing your child won’t have access to the same Therapy needs as during the school year? It can be frustrating to see your child excel and grow during their months in school, and then lose progress during the summer months. Next, they have to accommodate to a new teacher, potentially a new therapist, and you find yourself worrying if they’ll ever make the same progress they were. Here at FYZICAL Therapy

& Balance Centers at Southwest Georgia Rehab, our Pediatric Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapists know that your child’s health, development and growth is just as important during the summer as the school year. With our services, say goodbye to the months of worry and regression - and hello to a summer full of growth for your child like never before! Our therapists offer one-one-one attention with your child to address their Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy needs. They’ll never have to share time with other students, and they’ll have appointments made specifically for the growth they need and you as a parent are looking for. Also during the summer months, parents become the main channel for monitoring their child’s growth and development. If you’re wondering if your child needs or could benefit from Physical, Occupational, or Speech Therapy, read through the following trigger signs to address their development: Signs that your child could need Physical Therapy: •Baby cannot lift their head •Baby is not bearing weight on legs by 6 months •Baby is not sitting by 8 months, crawling by 12 months, or walking by 18 months •Child only walks on tip toes for longer than 6 months •Child is not well coordinated •Difficulty walking up stairs one leg at a time • Poor posture an preferring to rest their head on hands or slump over Signs that your child could need Occupational Therapy: •Difficulty manipulating toys and puzzles, holding a pencil, or using scissors and zippers • Poor coordination, balance and ball skills

FREE PHYSICAL THERAPY SCREENING

She moved to Cordele, GA a year ago with her family. She and her husband, Eddie, have two lovely daughters. They enjoy spending time outdoors swimming, fishing and finding bugs. They have a cat, dog, bunny and turtle! The thing Krystal enjoys most about being a physical therapist is empowering her patients to take back their lives. Some of her most memorable moments were watching an 8 year ambulate for the first time in 5 years following a spinal cord injury in a car accident. It was her grandmother’s birthday and her grandfather was so overjoyed with emotion he had to leave the room. Another was seeing a child ride bikes with his siblings after a lawn mower accident and 2 years of therapy to regain the strength and ROM for ambulation and bike riding. Krystal was led to SWGA Rehab by God. There was a lot of anxiety leading up to her move to Cordele and finding a new place of employment. She feels that He put everything in place, from housing to schools and childcare, to show her that she belonged in the SWGA Rehab family. Krystal has had a rewarding first year and is looking forward to her family’s future in Cordele!
