"HELP US IN OUR GREAT NEED" From the Russian Zone of Germany came this heart-rending appeal: "Help us in our great need. W e have no money. We are ill and hungry.” A Hebrew Christian, refugee in Italy: "Let a poor Hebrew Christian, who has suffered much through persecution, express his warm thanks for your food parcel. I am 66, quite alone, and must struggle. Your gift is great.” A young Hebrew Christian medical student in Germany, with a wife and child, expressed his gratitude for timely help: "W e had just 57c when your food parcel came. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you.” Please do pray for us and send a gift to help our ministry

This includes not only our prayers and our going to tell, but it also includes our money. The Bible has much to say about Christian giving. Let us pay heed to this teaching today. STUDY QUESTIONS 1. What complaint did God have con­ cerning His people? (Mai. 3:7-9.) 2. What command did the Lord give to His people in this regard? (v. 10.) 3. What is the promise of God con­ nected with this command? (w . 10-12.) 4. How many of the young people in your group make it a habit to tithe? Do you think it would be wise for each be­ liever, even young people, to form .the habit of faithful and systematic giving to the Lord? 5. Who really owns the wealth of the world? (Hag. 2:8.) 6. Do you think this fact obligates all men as stewards of the riches of God? 7. Read, either in unison or with each person taking a verse until the passage is read, the parable in Luke 19:11-27. What is the main truth taught here? 8. Is money the only investment be­ lievers can make? Discuss the wise invest­ ment of time and talent for Christ. Do you think He will require these things of each of us at the judgment seat of Christ? (1 Cor. 3:11-15; 2 Cor. 5:10.) 9. Read Luke 12:16-21. What is the main teaching here? What was the great mistake made by this man? Are others making the same mistake today? Are you? 10. What is the great incentive for generous giving? (2 Cor. 8:9.) 11. Discuss the teaching of 2 Cor. 9:6- 8. What is the warning of v. 6? What attitude must prevail in acceptable giv­ ing? (v. 7.) What is the promise of v. 8? END.
