(ibid.) in our own eyes. This is hypoc risy and we know how God hates hypoc risy. See Matt. 23:13-36; Acts 5:1-11. It is even possible to present the gospel in a self-righteous, censorious manner. From this may the Lord deliver us. Helps for the Children Jesus Teaches How to Live Luke 6:17-49 MEMORY VERSE: "And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise" (Luke 6:31). Last week we talked about the Lord Jesus Christ healing men’s souls and bodies. Today we shall read in God’s Word about some of the things which the Lord Jesus taught about how He wanted those who love Him to live. One day great multitudes crowded around the Saviour to be healed of their sicknesses and to hear His life-giving words. In Luke 6:17-49 you may read some of the words that He spoke that day. Some of the Saviour’s words are difficult to understand for those who do not know Him as their Saviour. He said: “ Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you.” Those who are not saved hate their enemies and try to harm them with words and deeds that are unkind. He also commanded His children to not judge others and to be willing to forgive those who wrong them. The Saviour asked: “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” Those who come to the Son of God, hear His sayings and do them are like a house built on a rock. No storm of discouragement, temptation, being “made fun of” or any kind of persecu tion can move a Christian who is a doer of the Word and not a hearer only. Saved boys and girls will pray daily and read the Word of God daily so that they will know His commandments and want to obey them. When others see that we have a Saviour Who can cause us to treat others as we would want them to treat us, they will want to know a Lord Who can do such wonderful things with our lives. Nov. 20, 1955 Evidence of Jesus' Power Luke 7:11-23 Pointers on the Lesson The emphasis in this lesson is on what Jesus did. Through His “miracles and wonders and signs” it was made evident who He was. In Acts 2:22 we are told that through these means He was' “ ap proved of God.” In other words He was proved, authenticated or demonstrated to be from God by them. He thus reveals His Messiahship. Power Over Death vv. 11-17 The account of this miracle appears only in Luke. There are a lot of unique things in Luke’s gospel — things which appear only in this book. And usually these things are told in an unforgettable maimer even as the story of the raising of the son of the widow of Nain. Nain CONTINUED
