spiritual life is dependent upon the Light of God. Acknowledging this, we begin to catch the weight of Christ’s statement to those who believe in Him, “Ye are the light of the world” (Matt. '5:14). It dawns upon us that we Christians have a very significant activity in which to engage. If we are influenced by the Lord, ,we will be an influence. For Those Who Have Topics I. LIGHT AND LIFE—ITS SOURCE IS CHRIST. 1. We must have light and life be fore we can shine (John 8:12; cf. Psa. 119:130; John 5:39). 2. Light often points the way to life. The Sunday School Times com ments on %, recent news reports as follows: “A destroyer had been tor pedoed and 116 men were struggling for their lives in the oil-burdened Waters, swimming about and clinging to rafts. Their cries for help were an- YOU BE THE JUDGE! Write for FREE

Saviour who has come. (Use a stanza of an- invitation hyitln, “Softly and Tenderly,” or “Just as I/ Am.”) II. A RIGHTEOUS WORLD-RULER IS COMING. Scripture: “The government shall be upon his shoulder. . . . Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his king dom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever” (Isa. 9:6, 7). Duet: First stanza of “Hark! the Herald Angels Sing.” Comment: The chaos in the world today is demonstrating that man is incapable of ruling the world in ab solute righteousness; only the Lord Jesus Christ can so govern it. Man’s best attempts to provide justice and equity are feeble and inadequate compared with the perfection of His coming rule. Those believers who, at His coming, will be “caught up . . . to meet the Lord in the air” will, later, rule with Him “as kings and priests” (Rev. 5:10). III. PEACE IS COMING. Scripture: “Of . . . peace there shall be no end” (Isa. 9:6; cf. 61:1-3, re-, membering that in both passages the One spoken of is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself). Quartet or chorus singing the stanza of "Hark! the Herald Angels Sing” that begins: “Hall, the heaven-born Prince of Peace! Hail the Sun of Righteousness!” Comment: Those who have experi enced “second birth” -(cf. John 3:3) have peace now. It is the gift of the Lord Jesus Christ: “My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you” (John 14:27). The One who gives that peace to individ uals who will accept i t . is the One who will be hailed by the natiohs as the Prince of Peace. Have we the peace that comes from sins forgiven? Have we the peace of a surrendered life? We may have! . Christmas, this year, declares to us that peace is “the gift of God’s love.”. (Use the hymn, “There Comes to My Heart One Sweet Strain” in concluding the meeting.) DECEMBER 27, 1942 “LET YOUR LIGHT SO SHINE” M atthew '5:13-16 By Lowell C. Wendt Introduction From our s^udy of science in school, we have found that physical life is dependent upon physical light. From the study of the Bible, we find that
