Dust and hooves were flying as the sulkies zipped around the hot track at the Riceville Fairgrounds throughout the Saturday over the July 7 weekend. The annual Riceville Derby is both a popular weekend spectacle and a moneymaking fundraiser for the Riceville Agricultural Society to help cover its operating expenses to host the annual country fair later in the year just before the Thanksgiving season in October.
