Get Better Service Every Day! WITH THE MOUNTAIN CLIMBERS AT CHB
When Kit found out 2 1/2 years ago that he’d gotten the job he wanted at CHB, he felt a bit like a kid on the first day of school. His whole career had prepared him to become our Business Development and Broker Relations Director — but the learning curve for our industry is steep. It felt like a mountain looming above him! Fortunately, Kit had three weeks to gather his metaphorical equipment and start to scale the mountain. He wasn’t alone. Ed was right there in his climbing party. We worked together on the “cliff face” of industry jargon and building connections. By the time Kit walked through the CHB doors on his first day, he was fully up to speed! Of course, the learning curve didn’t stop there. We’re both constantly learning about ourselves, our industry, and our business so that we can improve and serve our customers better. You could say that we have endless mountains to climb! Kit, for example, has kept himself sharp by meeting new people at industry conferences; volunteering and actively participating in committees; researching our competitors; asking for advice from industry veterans; and reading everything about equipment financing he can get his hands on. Today, Kit is so familiar with how our industry works that he can seamlessly apply his business background to the problems we face, give great advice to our team, and offer resources to the brokers we work with. (If you have a business question, just ask — he’s happy to help!) Kit also learned a secret over the last three years: By listening with intent, he can go beyond his job description. Listening closely to what other companies do best and applying those things to our processes is the key to beating the competition. If you’re not already doing this in your own businesses, start today! While Kit focused on that, Ed was hard at work pushing CHB to climb its own series of mountains. In the past year alone, we’ve overcome a half-dozen industry challenges that have taken our company to the next level and made it easier than ever for us to help you. Here’s a little peek behind the scenes.
In the last 12 months alone, we’ve …
• Hired six new team members across five different functional areas of the business so that we can help more clients, faster.
• Rolled out a new 24/7, online notary and signature service that complements DocuSign and makes it easier, and faster, for you/your clients to acquire notary services and sign important loan documents (i.e. Power of Attorney). • Designed and implemented our new four-tier Broker Bonus Program that distributes cash bonuses on an annual (Tier 1), quarterly (Tier 2), monthly (Tier 3), and weekly or daily (Tier 4) basis to the valuable brokers who partner with us. • Switched to a more efficient, comprehensive back-end data system called SilverLake. It has better search capabilities, exceptions tracking, and report options than our old Core Director system so that we can serve you better.
All of this just scratches the surface! Here at CHB, we’re always on the lookout for the next mountain we can climb to improve our company. Hopefully you’re doing the same. As the business training and development coach Brian Tracy once put
it, “Excellence is not a destination, it is a continuous journey that never ends.”
We’re keeping that in mind as we finish out the third quarter and head toward 2023!

Keep More Money in Your Wallet WITH THESE MONEY-SAVING TRICKS
Utilize the 30-day rule. When you want to make a purchase that costs more than $100, do you buy it right then or wait so you have time to really decide if you need the product? If you act immediately, chances are that you’ve bought some things in the past that you never even used. Take some time to think about your purchasing decisions when buying an expensive item. If you still believe you want or need the item after 30 days, then there’s a good chance this is something you’ll use. Stick to your budget. If you feel like you’re always short on money, you should take some time to figure out exactly where your money is going. You’ll then need to create a budget so you aren’t spending money on unnecessary purchases. The most important part of managing your budget is sticking to it. Make a list whenever you go to the store — and don’t stray from it.
In today’s day and age, we could all use a little bit more money in our pockets, but it can be difficult to know where and when to cut back to increase savings. Oftentimes, we spend our money on smaller things throughout each week and then wonder where our paycheck went. If you want to start saving more, you must make some lifestyle changes. Below, you will find three easy-to-implement ways to keep more money in your wallet. Adjust your diet. How many times a week do you eat at a restaurant or get coffee from your local coffee shop? While it might not seem like much when you’re spending $3–$7 at a time, it can add up quickly. Cook more meals at home and prepare your coffee before you leave the house so you aren’t tempted to stop and get some on your way to work. You can also meal prep to remove your temptation to eat lunch at a restaurant.
BREAKING THE BUSY-BORED CYCLE 3 Strategies You Can Use Right Now
3. Be curious. One way to
It’s a common problem: People spend most of their days feeling too busy, only to feel bored during their free time. So how can you break the habit of scrolling through your phone and watching TV and make the most of the little time you have for yourself? Let’s talk about ways to break the cycle of boredom and busyness thus creating a more fulfilling life. 1. Plan ahead. Schedule your days and weeks for an even workload to ensure your day doesn’t have huge gaps or work overflow. For example, if you have a large project, you can divide it into smaller tasks to keep yourself busy, yet not overwhelmed, throughout the week. You can also plan fun activities each day. This will help fight boredom and give you something to look forward to when you’re at work or while completing daily tasks. 2. Prioritize tasks. If you have trouble managing projects to the point where you feel you don’t have enough time, begin prioritizing specific tasks. It’s essential to complete the highest priority tasks so you won’t be up late in the day trying to finish something important. If you plan ahead, you can number your tasks from most important to least. This will help ensure high-priority tasks are completed on schedule.
mute boredom and implement more creativity is by setting daily learning goals. These goals can be anything you
want! Setting small goals and accomplishments will keep you curious, motivated, and focused. They
also give you something to look forward to each day. Ask yourself what you want to learn today. Do you want to learn about a new culture? A language? If there is something you’ve always wanted to know, now is the time to put your thinking cap on! Boredom and busyness derive from the same source — there is a lack of quality in how you focus your attention. Luckily, the same strategies apply to both boredom and busyness. These tips will help you create a balanced mindset and allow you to push through your day without feeling overwhelmed or uninspired.

Whether you’re brand new to the titled equipment side of the brokerage business or have been titling VIN equipment for years, it’s easy to make a tiny mistake that prevents your Certificate of Title transfer from reaching completion. We’ve all been there! Agencies like the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), Department of Licensing (DOL), Department of Revenue (DOR), and Department of Transportation (DOT) are insanely picky about their paperwork. To avoid pulling your hair out over your state agency’s obscure rules, look out for the common mistakes below.* 6 Common Titling Mistakes for VIN Equipment And How to Avoid Them
Tasty Bruschetta Chicken
Inspired by Delish.com
INGREDIENTS
• 4 boneless and skinless chicken breasts, pounded to even thickness • 4 tbsp olive oil • 2 tbsp lemon juice, divided • 1/4 tsp pepper
• 1 tsp Italian seasoning • 3 tomatoes, chopped • 2 cloves garlic, minced • 1 tbsp fresh basil, chopped • Salt and pepper, to taste • 4 slices mozzarella cheese • Parmesan cheese, grated
DIRECTIONS
1. Add chicken to a large resealable bag. 2. In a small bowl, combine olive oil, 1 tbsp lemon juice, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Pour over chicken and seal. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. 3. Turn a grill to medium-high heat and add the chicken. Discard the marinade. Grill chicken 5–7 minutes per side or until fully cooked. 4. Combine the remaining lemon juice, tomatoes, garlic, and basil. Add salt and pepper, to taste. 5. Before taking the chicken off the grill, top each breast with a slice of mozzarella cheese. Cover and cook 2–3 minutes, then serve topped with the tomato mixture and grated Parmesan cheese.
1. Failing to get the original title or certificate of origin (MSO).
2. Neglecting to get an original signature from the previous owner of used equipment on the title relinquishing their ownership.
3. Forgetting to include the company name, signature, and title of the individual in the previous owner signoff. (This especially applies if the previous owner was a company.)
Will We See You There?
4. Failing to list the lessee, lessor, and/or lienholder correctly and in the correct spot on the form.
This is an exciting summer and fall for CHB! We have several industry and company events coming up, and we’re looking forward to seeing our broker associates and making new acquaintances. 2022 Broker Weekend (Jackson, Wyoming) Aug. 26–28, 2022 This invitation-only CHB retreat will include options for fishing, golfing, hiking, climbing, shooting, and sightseeing in the majestic beauty of the Wyoming mountains. We can’t wait to show you our home state. 2022 AACFB Commercial Financing Expo (Las Vegas) Sept. 7–8, 2022 Kit and Ed have both volunteered for industry association committees, and Kit is looking forward to visiting Las Vegas for this event! While he’s there, he plans to visit our broker associates’ offices for candid conversations about best practices and to discuss how we can work together to accelerate our businesses. 2022 NEFA Funding Symposium (Nashville) Nov. 2–4, 2022 NEFA is another organization CHB actively participates in. We’re excited to travel to their symposium to network with others and learn about the latest developments in the commercial equipment finance industry.
5. Incorrectly listing the new owner’s name on the title. In some states, even forgetting to include “Inc.” after the entity name can cause a big enough mismatch with the Commercial Motor Carrier Account to ruin your transaction. 6. Failing to provide required supporting documents like sales receipts, a bill of sale, proof of residency, insurance information, an odometer declaration, proof of sales tax paid, etc.
Above all, accuracy is essential! DMVs will even reject forms with sections that have been erased or whited out, or with tiny spelling errors. These are just a few of the many mistakes you could make in the titling process. To make absolutely sure you avoid titling issues, call our office and ask for help from one of our title professionals. They’re experts at processing titles for private party seller deals and deals that cross state lines. *Note: The titling process works differently state to state. These are general guidelines, but some states have extra hurdles like required emissions testing, notarization, or VIN inspections. For tips specific to your state, reach out to a CHB title professional today.

5 Wyoming Mountains Ranges Worth Escaping To PLAN THE ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME
The Laramie Mountains – This range in the Medicine Bow National Forest is extremely underrated. Its peaks — including the 10,272- foot Laramie Peak — run through Wyoming and Colorado and are home to excellent campgrounds and hiking trails. Try the Sunset Ridge Trail for a casual starting hike. The Teton Mountain Range – We can’t leave the Tetons off this list! The Tetons are part of Grand Teton National Park, which crosses the Idaho-Wyoming border and was established in 1929. Fun fact: “America’s first mountain man,” John Colter, is said to have traveled through the Tetons in the early 1800s after splitting from the Lewis and Clark expedition.
This summer, the CHB team will meet many of our broker partners in Jackson, Wyoming, for 2022 Broker Weekend. Jackson is the perfect spot for hiking, climbing, and fishing because it’s located beside the famous Teton Mountain Range. The Tetons often get top billing when out-of-state visitors talk about Wyoming, but they aren’t the only range in our state worth escaping to! If you’re planning a getaway to the Cowboy State, put at least one of these ranges on your list. The Bighorn Mountains — This 150-mile-long mountain range straddles the Montana-Wyoming border and features peaks that average 8,000–13,000 feet tall. The range’s Bighorn National Forest is home to 32 campgrounds, 14 picnic areas, visitor centers, ski areas, lodges, recreation lakes, scenic byways,
and more than 1,500 miles of trails. That’s a lot of options for visitors! Medicine Mountain — This peak in the Bighorns features the Medicine Wheel, a wheel- shaped limestone rock feature the Wyoming Historical Society describes as “an important prehistoric archeological landscape as well as an ancient Native American spiritual site where tribal ceremonial activity continues to this day.” You can hike to the site from June–September. The Snowy Range Mountains — There are more than 100 lakes tucked between the Snowy Range’s granite peaks, and they are great spots for fishing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. The Snowy Range Ski Area is also worth a visit. To see the Snowies from your car, check out the Snowy Range Scenic Byway.
