1. Leadership. On a day-to-day basis, be a focal point for all student accommodation development opportunities.

To select, appoint and manage on a day to day basis a team of property advisors for a range of transactions.

Act as the primary contact for delivery needs, projecting 5-10 year requirements.

The post holder will be expected to provide high quality strategic guidance and be able to influence and negotiate with senior University representatives across the university estate, developing solutions and milestone/programmes. Engage with internal and external agencies at senior level to ensure appropriate sector/industry knowledge is addressed in UoS’s residential strategy and vision. 2. Strategy. To provide high level support to the Director of Residential Services and the Residences senior team through the development and delivery of a residential estate programme. To contribute fully to the development of strategic goals and direction for Residential Services.

To be responsible for appraising potential occupancy agreements having regard to planning, finance, commercial property capital/rental values and the student experience.

Undertake significant project work with minimal supervision as required on Residential Estates work including commercial input. The intended work may involve preparing sites for disposal or lease and achieving best price for the University through the instruction of surveying, architectural and planning specialists.

Provide robust analysis to translate academic and business needs into fully defined residential projects.

Support the development of a robust rolling residential capital plan for the University.

3. Service Delivery and Improvement. To critically review current practice in estate management: development, procurement and delivery. Update operational plans to ensure they meet strategic goals and ensure plans are supported by monitoring KPI’s, budget information, customer feedback and other relevant evidence. Manage key elements of residential occupancy agreements and forecasts the acquisition of new and disposal of old UoS bed stock.

Lead on the portfolio of student accommodation residences and ensure any break notices are correctly served.

Appoint, lead and manage senior internal and external professional teams (architects, engineers, surveyors etc.) in the development, feasibility and analysis of strategic options. 4. Operational Accountability. Accountable for resources and budgets for all projects and operations. 5. Regulation. To ensure compliance with health & safety, environmental, construction and other relevant legislation. 5 % 6. Sustainability. To seek advice from and liaise with relevant expert and technical staff to ensure implementation of improvements on environmental sustainability in all residential estates services. 5 % 7. Systems and Procedures. To ensure continuous development of management information systems that support timely reporting to provide assurance and effective performance data to inform operational decisions. 5 %
