We are pleased to invite you to the Show-Me-Select (SMS) Replacement Heifer Program Spring Southwest Missouri Sale, to be held at Joplin Regional Stockyards, 10131 Cimarron Road, Carthage, MO 64836, on May 15, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. This event marks the 56 th SW MO sale and will feature an offering of 170 fall-calving bred heifers from 12 consignors in the region. This sale offers purebred and crossbred heifers from breeds like Angus, Akaushi, Beefmaster, Gelbvieh, Hereford, Red Angus, Simmental, and composites. Most have completed an estrous synchronization program followed by artificial insemination (AI) to service sires with high-accuracy expected progeny difference (EPD) numbers, then were exposed to natural service (NS) sires with genomic-enhanced EPDs. More information on heifers and sires is included in the catalog. The SMS heifer program is a nationally recognized educational program designed to educate producers with the goal of developing and marketing productive females that are expected to calve easily, and remain in the herd long-term. All heifers have satisfied minimum standards for reproductive soundness, pelvic size, body condition, weight, and are blemish free. They are bred to bulls that meet stringent calving ease EPD specifications. Additionally, a comprehensive health protocol has been implemented, including confirming heifers test negative for BVD-PI. Heifers are expected to calve between late August and November 30 th , and all have been pregnancy checked within 30 days of the sale. Throughout their development, and prior to sale, heifers have undergone several evaluations to ensure the best quality heifers are available for purchase. The guarantee is an agreement between the buyer and the consigner; if any issues occur, the consignor must be contacted prior to any action taken using the information provided in the catalog. The consignor guarantees bred heifers to be safe in calf at the time of sale. If a heifer is proven by veterinary exam within 30 days after sale not to have been pregnant, the consignor will replace the heifer or make a financial settlement with the buyer. Joplin Regional Stockyards is the sale agent. The catalog lists the sale order, which was set by a drawing among consignors. Each consignor decides which heifers to sell during each rotation.
