GENERAL SALE INFORMATION Sale Agent - Joplin Regional Stockyards (JRS)
NOTICE: New JRS buyers please bring a letter of preapproval from your bank when registering prior to the sale.
SALE PROCEDURE Sale order is set by consignors drawing for their spot in the rotation, with each choosing heifers to sell per rotation. Heifers are sold in uniform lots—usually 3 to 6—sorted by breed, color, and size, and expected to calve within 45 days. Once sold, heifers become the buyer’s property and risk immediately. The consignor assists loading upon the buyer’s instructions, but at the buyer's risk; loading only happens after the sale concludes. Financial transactions are handled by the sale agent and completed before loading. Health papers for all heifers will be available after the sale if needed. All heifers have been tested and found negative for BVD-PI. ONLINE AUCTION BIDDING Watch video preview and sale at www.joplinstockyards.com. For questions or help with bank approval, contact JRS at (417) 548-2333 and ask for Dustin, Misti, or Clay. GUARANTEE All heifers are guaranteed bred and to remain pregnant for 30 days from the sale date. Calving dates provided are estimates; actual calving may occur within a two-week window on either side of the projected date, even when females have been artificially inseminated at the same time. The consignor guarantees bred heifers to be safe in calf at the time of sale. If a heifer is proven by veterinary exam within 30 days after sale not to have been pregnant, the consignor will replace the heifer or make a financial settlement with the buyer. If any issues occur, the consignor must be contacted prior to any action taken. The guarantee is an agreement between the buyer and the consigner and not the University of Missouri Extension or other organizations or individuals involved in the sale. In case the buyer and seller are unable to reach an agreement over a heifer, an arbitration committee may be asked to hear both sides and render a decision. Calves of Show-Me-Select heifers are warranted to be free of genetic defects for a period of six (6) months from date of purchase. Heifers that give birth to an affected calf (exhibits the genetic defect), which is subsequently proven by diagnostic lab or DNA testing to be a genetic defect will have the full purchase price of the heifer plus the DNA testing charge refunded to the buyer by the seller. TAGS All heifers in the sale are identified by a special yellow tag displaying the Show-Me-Select (SMS) trademark and name, indicating they have fulfilled all requirements of the Missouri SMS Replacement Heifer Program. Some heifers have a white SMS tag, marking them as Tier Two heifers; see the requirements section in this catalog for full details. The Show-Me-Plus Heifer designation applies to heifers that have been tested with a genomic prediction panel approved by MU Extension. Currently, no special tags are used for these heifers.
