Adam Coomber picked up an Apprentice of the Year Award at the 2021 Northern Ireland Plumbing & Heating Awards. Since joining Dowds Group in September of 2017, Adam has proved himself as an excellent apprentice with high productivity and a willingness to learn and use his own initiative. Luke McBride from Vaughan Engineering Services Ltd was named Apprentice of the Year at Northern Ireland’s Plumbing & Heating Awards 2021. A third-year apprentice, Luke joined Vaughan Engineering in 2018 with no prior knowledge of the mechanical services sector but quickly proved himself to be an adaptable, hard worker who was willing to embrace the challenge. He has received glowing testimonials from both his course tutor and colleagues, who describe him as a motivated and committed student in the classroom, as well as a valuable member of the team on-site. This year’s judging panel said they were impressed with Luke’s determination to succeed in his role, noting how the apprentice was able to teach himself AutoCad

in his own time to the point that he successfully completed over 400 as installed drawings for a complicated hospital project. Summing up, the judges said Luke was a worthy winner of this award and someone with a very bright future ahead of him.
