Kerrigan Mechanical has developed into one of Ireland’s leading district heating, specialist installers with a diverse and talented workforce offering vast experience in commercial plumbing, heating, ventilation and extract systems. The firm has completed 1,500 units over the past five to six years and expects to add a further 1,000 this year. It has progressed from Tier 3 to Tier 2, aspiring to become a Tier 1 mechanical contractor within five years. Established in 1998 as Midland Heating & Plumbing, the firm prides itself on the ability to deliver on time, on budget and without any financial surprises, meeting and exceeding clients’ needs and generating repeat business opportunities. Kerrigan has expanded its team to 70 employees, and its solid company training programmes and a focus on staff recruitment and retention impressed judges. Its installations range in value from €50,000 to €12m, with recent projects including AMTCE Building Phase 1 in Dundalk, Cheevers Court & Haliday House Apartments in Dún Laoghaire, the Premier Inn Hotel Gloucester Street and EasyHotel Benburb Street in Dublin. CSR is also a focus, with Crumlin Children’s hospital its chosen charity, and Kerrigan Mechanical is currently planning a new sustainable head office and a gradual migration to electric vehicles.
M&P Mechanical founder Mark O’Rourke has racked up 42 years of service to the industry and in his own words, “I love working in this industry and every day brings its own challenges, achievements and awards”. Entering the sector as an apprentice, he worked long hours and honed his experience over 30 years before founding M&P Mechanical in 2011. The company now employs more than 200 people and operates a fleet of over 50 vehicles. Awards won over the years include District Heating Project of the Year, Excellence in Business, Mechanical Contractor of the Year and Best Multi Sector Heating and Plumbing Contractor. M&P also takes great pride in its ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015 and 45001:2018 accreditation, gained through a team effort. A Dublin office was added in 2016 and the business has established an impressive client base ranging from Shannon Homes Dublin, Cosgrave Developments, Shannon Homes Drogheda and Urban Life Developments to ABP Food Group, WeWork, Hugh McGreevey & Sons, Golden Port and Walls Construction. M&P went on to stake a claim in the German market in 2019 and 2020. Mark takes great pride in building the family business alongside his wife Pauline, daughter Niamh and son Darren who are heavily involved in the day-to-day running of the firm.
