conversation was mixed up with his trying to get listed for stand- by on this flight. Frustrating for me, for him, for the gate agent who was trying to help him. I thought we had everything settled, but two days later, I got a call from him. It seems the date we’d set- tled on, now wouldn’t work for him. He hadn’t realized he was already booked that day. In the meantime, I’d already had three other people clear their schedules, arrange flights and rooms to be there for the original date of the meeting. I’m not trying to pin the entire blame on him; after all, I could have said, “Listen, you’re breaking up, you’ve got several other things going on, let’s touch base when you get the flight issue resolved.” Instead, like him, I wanted to get this meeting scheduled

and to move on to the next item on my to do list. How many times have you let a distraction prevent you from communicating clearly with someone else? This was only a business meeting and can be rescheduled, no major harm done.

In order for me to give you everything you need to succeed on a level you desire and deserve, I need to share with you the importance of relationships and communication. I don’t just mean relationships and communication with your spouse or children, but with everyone you come in contact with, from a loved one to a business partner to strangers to clients and everyone in between. For most people, relationships have sparked the best and worst experiences in life. Think about some amazing moments that relationships have brought you.
