Investigative Committee
My appointment as a public member on the Investigative Committee was made by the minister of advanced education, and this appointment has been an invaluable experience that has deepened my understanding of the fairness, accountability, and integrity of APEGA. In this role, I was entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring that investigations were conducted objectively and in accordance with established policies and ethical standards within the legislative framework. My primary duty was to bring an impartial and public perspective to the deliberation process. Throughout my term with the committee, the investigation panel reports were professionally developed, and the investigators worked collaboratively with fellow learned panel members to review evidence, assess testimonies, and determine findings based on clear and consistent criteria. These reports reflected how all parties involved—such as the complainants, respondents, and witnesses—were treated with respect and given equitable opportunities to present their perspectives. This commitment to due process was central to maintaining the credibility of proceedings and reinforcing public trust. As a member of the Investigative Committee, the public member is required to exercise a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality. Perhaps the most rewarding aspect of this role was witnessing how thoughtful, transparent investigation processes strengthen the trust the public has for APEGA. Contributing to decisions that promote fairness and accountability affirmed my belief that ethical governance is not just a procedural necessity but a moral imperative. Overall, my appointment to the Investigative Committee as a public member has been challenging and fulfilling. It has reinforced my dedication to ethical leadership, impartiality, and continual learning—qualities I will carry forward in future professional and community endeavours.
