MALAYSIAN TECHNOLOGY STRATEGIC OUTLOOK 2019/2020

The common conundrum is should we remain anonymous to this emerging technology?

From a technological perspective, an autonomous vehicle is one of the elements in smart mobility. Multiple technologies converge in delivering the autonomous technology. It is more than simply a vehicle when it comes to an autonomous system. Even the term “vehicle” or “car” will be challengeable once it has a “mind” of its own and is fully off human control once reaching level 5. Do we still call it a vehicle? a robot? Or a self-driven machine or a smart mobile? One thing for sure, the autonomous vehicle provides a much bigger perspective in terms of functionality compared to the conventional transfer from point A to point B goal.

Treating it in Malaysia as BAU (auto mode) or apply strategic intervention in leveraging this new emerging sector (manual control). Nowadays technology is expanding at a faster rate. The real challenge lies on the roll out or implementation of the technology. Either determined by a pull/ push factor due to critical needs like safety, security, or even environmental sustainability. Coupling convergence of technology with innovative business models like shared & on demand economy is a game changer and possibly disruptive to status quo.
