EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS ADVANCEMENTS NEW

Focusing on the Right Activities All it takes is just one single moment of inspiration and that certainly rang true for Marie Yee and Anthony Voo-happy Melaleuca customers of a year-after attending Convention 2013. Driven by that strike of inspiration, buoyed with enthusiasm and armed with their entrepreneurial spirit, they made the decision to turn the Melaleuca business into their Plan B and it soon became their own personal wellness supermarket. The confidence they gained with this Plan B income allowed them to dream big for a better life. “The feeling of having the possibility to achieve time freedom while providing a better future for my children is just amazing. I sincerely believe that this is what every stay-at-home mother would desire and strive for,” says Marie. With that in mind, she took on the mission of assisting numerous stay-at-home mothers, with the help of Melaleuca, escape and find relief from critical financial stress plaguing them. That was 4 years ago, and Marie and Anthony have never once looked back and regretted on their decision to build their Melaleuca business. Of course, like any other businesses, their journey with Melaleuca was not without its ups and downs. 2015 was an outstanding year for Marie and Anthony when they had an unprecedented growth and advanced from Senior Directors to Senior Directors 6, and kept the momentum going until August 2016 when they advanced to Senior Directors 8. Nonetheless, life isn’t always a bed of roses. After advancing to Senior Directors 8, they reached a plateau and it became one of the most challenging years for Marie and Anthony. “I realized that Marie seems to be overwhelmed by a myriad of team activities but yet the changes weren’t obvious. The outcome didn’t match up to her efforts, and she wasn’t spending enough time with her family,” Anthony says, looking back. Being questioned on her leadership style and time management was truly a jolt to the system and it served as a wake-up call for Marie to steer her focus back on the right activities. Through a re-evaluation, Marie confessed that her team activities had inadvertently cause her to overlook her own personal activities. She was spending too much time on team activities, which left her with no time to cultivate her own. “Anthony reminded me that I should be developing leadership instead of taking the lead all by myself. So I took a step back to refocus and reinforce the 50/50 time management rule,” says Marie. Knowing that she needs new leadership pipeline to move her business forward, she steered her focus back to her personal activities, such as consistency in enrolling customers and developing new leadership. “After Convention 2017, I recommitted to Critical Activities 1 and 2, following the daily reporting and accountability system. It was clear to me that leading by example is the only way to ensure the team moves forward and towards the same direction,” Marie shares. Through reinforcing the 50/50 rule, she is able to spend half her time adding new names to her contact list and committing to at least 4 calls a day. As a result, she enrolled 18 customers and developed 2 new Directors 2. The 50/50 rule also spurred her key leaders towards independence, allowing Marie more time on productive activities. This was proven when she achieved a growth of 247 Preferred Customers since February 2017. Marie attributed the growth to a shift of perception on how she usually does things. Acknowledging that fear comes from lack of confidence, Marie shares, “In the past, I have been focusing on helping stay-at-home mothers. It was a market I know and was so comfortable with, because I am a mother too. However, I knew I needed business

partners who would really see this from a business perspective and work like an entrepreneur. So, I decided to get out of my comfort zone and change my core market.” Following Convention 2017, she conquered her fear and lack of confidence in approaching entrepreneurs. With her determination, she identified Directors 2 Vincent Pang and Charles Chong. A healthy retention rate is a key factor to earning true residual income at Melaleuca. Marie and Anthony strategized to increase their retention rate by focusing on customer follow ups and strengthening product knowledge. “At the beginning of each month, we would vet through the cancellation list in our M.O.R.E and start performing reactivation calls. From time to time, we would conduct product trainings to empower our customers with product knowledge and this has lowered the number of customers giving the excuse of not knowing what else to purchase for the month,” Marie reveals. Knowledge is power and the Train the Trainer program organized by the company recently helped equip her key leaders with comprehensive product knowledge. Subsequently, the leaders began conducting their own trainings independently, even for a new Director 3. Marie also revamped her approach by promoting the Home Conversion Pack and Value Pack to each customer, and re-emphasized the benefits of the Product Bonus Program. “I always educate my team on the importance of purchasing Packs and explain that new customers who enroll with Packs will stay longer with Melaleuca because they get to try a large variety of products. This helps in enhancing their confidence in our exceptional products,” Marie explains. Through this simple paradigm shift, there were noticeable improvements to the retention rate and average product point per customer in her business; contributing to her growth. Progress is impossible without persistency and change. Besides helping more stay-at-home mothers work towards their goals and achieve their dreams, Marie’s decision to conquer her fear and make pertinent changes has been none other than one of immense satisfaction, rewarding her with success. “I’ve decided to revise my goals and stretch myself. This year I will develop 1 new Senior Director, and together with Senior Director 7 Peony Sin, we commit to bring 5 new Senior Directors to attend Standing Senior Leadership Council 2018,” Marie pledges.
