Our officers teach a PE credit women’s self-defense course fall, winter and spring quarters, which requires three officers for 15 hours each class for a total of 45 hours each quarter. During this course, we receive SEOI feedback from the students. Below are the comments we received from fall quarter 2018 and spring 2017 for the women’s self-defense course. Fall 2018 SEOI Question: What aspects of the teaching or content in this course do you feel were especially good? Comments: • The content of the study can be applied to real life • They really showed us how to do the moves and were very respectful when someone had an improper form. They would correct them and then congratulate them. • Literally this class is soooooo awesome. I recommend it to literally everyone I talk to. • They were very hands-on and communicated well with us • Good to know if I was ever in a bad situation. • Options to practice right after class. • Each instructor was helpful and wanted to see us succeed. The course overall is really helpful and I learned a lot and I think that was because the combination of the importance of the course but also because the instructors made it fun and understandable. • Officer Ames was great Spring 2017 SEOI Question: What aspects of the teaching or content in this course do you feel were especially good? Comments: • This was one of my favorite classes that I have ever taken at Central, and I am so grateful that CWU offers this class. Having a women-only class with engaging instructors really helped me learn in a fun and comfortable environment. I would encourage any female to take this class, and I am excited that I can take another RAD class anywhere and anytime one is offered because I have the signed book.
