Priority 1: Northwest Patrol Property Purchase Purpose There are two existing Northwest Patrol Division fa- cilities that house patrol and administrative func- tions—2500 N. Houston Street and 4651 N. Main Street. The 2500 N. Houston facility, built in 1950, is City-owned with approximately 7,507 sq. ft. on a 2.59 acre lot, and houses approximately 26 person- nel. The leased facility at 4651 N. Main at Meacham International Airport is approximately 12,675 sq. ft. and houses 150 personnel. The monthly building lease cost is $11,197.54. The lease expires in March 2019, and the updated Memorandum of Under- standing (MOU) with the Aviation Department re- quests an increase in the lease costs, adds a ground lease cost, and mandatory costly maintenance re- pairs to the facility.
The location of all future patrol division facilities should be based on the following criteria: centrally located based on existing and projected population and calls for service, access to major arterials, size, available utilities, visibility, and compatible uses. Status The Police Department must find a more economi- cally feasible solution to replace the Meacham lease. The preference is to purchase property using FY19 CCPD funding to consolidate the two facilities into one City-owned building. The Property Man- agement Department is assisting Police with identi- fying potential property to purchase in a centralized location.
Funding Strategy Funding is available in the FY19 CCPD budget.
