Strategic Plan Progress Report

Moving Forward Police Facilities

Priority 3: Far West Patrol Division

Priority 4: Public Safety Complex Improve- ments Purpose The purpose of this project is to fund the critically needed improvement of a generator and an uninter- rupted power supply at the Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex. This improvement was included in the ini- tial programming for the new facility, but was un- funded in the project budget. This improvement is critical for the operational efficiency for both Police and Fire Departments as it is related to critical emergency management needs and heightened se- curity measures. Status Engineers have met with both Fire and Police to de- termine the scope and provide a quote for the over- all project. The project is now waiting on a funding source to be secured. Funding Strategy The Police Department and Fire Department have agreed to share the cost of this critical need. A po- tential funding source includes the UASI HMGP Grant. Other funding sources such as CCPD or a fu- ture bond program should also be considered.

Purpose The purpose of this project is to construct a new pa- trol division facility for a Far West Patrol Division to house all major future Far West Division functions including command, administrative support, investi- gations (detectives), neighborhood patrol officers, and a community room. Significant and expansive residential and commercial developments west of Loop 820 are under development now including Walsh Ranch, Dean Ranch, and others. Numerous concept plans for these developments have been submitted to the City of Fort Worth, and have been the precursor for rapid growth in the near term, so it is reasonable to assume extensive development westward near Walsh Ranch. Status In preparation for this growth, the City has begun the process to identify an ideal site for an approxi- mately 28,000+ square footage Police facility in west Fort Worth. Funding Strategy This project should be funded by CCPD or included in a future bond program.
