Who can apply for membership? Membership of the CIPP is open to anyone who is responsible for delivering a payroll or automatic enrolment service, whether in- house or for clients, including accountants and bookkeepers and professionals in peripheral sectors such as finance, HR, service providers, and so ware developers.

Criteria for associate membership

For associate membership, individuals must spend at least 50% of their time working in payroll, pensions and/or reward and meet one of the below:

l Evidence of one year’s experience in the profession and CPD l Qualified to level three or four in payroll, pensions or reward

Associate members are eligible to use the letters ACIPP after their name.

Eligibility for associate membership can only be maintained through ongoing participation in the Chartered Institute’s continuing professional development (CPD) scheme. Associate members are eligible to apply for upgrade to full membership after one year as an associate member for £30. This fee is charged at the time of application and is non-refundable.

To gain feedback they host policy Think Tanks to gather information for consultation responses. Criteria for full membership

Full membership is also available, after successful upgrade application, to associates (after one year) who are experienced or qualified in payroll, pensions or reward management.

Applicants must provide evidence of at least three year’s work experience and 12 months CPD in payroll, pensions or reward, plus two of the below:

l Qualified to level five in payroll, pensions or reward l More than 50% of time spent on payroll, pensions and/or reward activities l Have held a managerial position, or teach payroll, pensions and/or reward for the last ten years (or five years plus full member test)

Associates wishing to upgrade must support their application with a personal statement and CV. Applications will be assessed by the chair and vice chair.

Graduates that retain their membership are entitled to use the letters MCIPPdip/ MCIPPdip (pensions). Individuals who are awarded full membership can use MCIPP.

Criteria for fellowmembership

Fellow membeship is available to members qualified to CIPP level six or seven in payroll, pensions or reward. Full members can also apply to upgrade based on their experience.

Existing full members applying to upgrade must meet the following criteria, applications will be assessed by the CIPP board of directors;

1. Be able to demonstrate a positive and valuable contribution to CIPP and the profession, outside their normal duties, examples include: l Member engagement with the CIPP through assisting consultation committees l The development of services to members in planning meetings for future events

Q. Do I have to be a member of the CIPP to enrol/ book a training course or event? A. No, and students receive student membership of the CIPP for the duration of their studies. Q. Do I have to be qualified to become a member of CIPP? A. No you do not need to have a qualification to become a member, the CIPP has different grades of membership and there is an opportunity for members to move through all grades during the course of their career. A. A hard copy can be sent to you by emailing your address to info@cipp.org.uk or alternatively we can send a copy to you via email. The CIPP prospectus is also available on our website. Q. How do I update my email address and contact details? A. Email membership@cipp.org.uk with your membership number and your new details. Q. How do I get hold of a copy of your prospectus?

Q. Howmany times is Professional in Payroll, Pensions and Reward magazine distributed in a year? A. Currently there are ten issues a year, one per month with the July / August and December / January issues combined. Q. I didn’t receive this month’s magazine, how do I get another sent out to me? A. Email membership@cipp.org.uk with your membership number and state which month it is you’ve not received and we will look into this for you. You can also access every issue of Professional in Payroll, Pensions and Reward magazine in the members area of the website. Q. I haven’t been receiving the News On Line: is there a problemwith my email address? A. It is important that you keep your details up to date so that the correct email address is being used, to verify this and to let CIPP know you are not receiving News On Line please email membership@cipp.org.uk Q. We are interested in joining the CIPP, can you provide me with materials and identify the easiest way I can go about the process. A.
