Cox will play at the oldest of the world's Seven Wonders this May
Taking place on 19th May, the show at the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World will see Cox DJ with support from Philipp Straub and Gawdat. Estimated to have been built between 2550BC and 2490BC, the Great Pyramid was the tallest manmade structure in the world for over 3,800 years. A number of musicians have performed at the Giza site over the years, including Jean- Michel Jarre, Black Eyed Peas, Shakira and Mariah Carey.
Spotify introduces new AI DJ feature
Spotify recently debuted a new AI-powered DJ companion to its music streaming platform that will create personalised playlists for listeners based on your listening data. The platform already does that with its many algorithmically generated playlists like Discovery Weekly or Release Radar. But those playlists don’t talk back to you. That’s where the ‘AI’ side of DJ comes in. The platform already offers a ton of personalisation tools and with the recent explosion of AI into the mainstream, it was always a case of ‘when’, not ‘if’ generative models, like the one behind ChatGPT, would make their way into other services. Spotify apparently saw this coming.

Review: Audio-Technica ATH-TWX9 True Wireless ANC In-Ear Headphones
L et's start with the case, which is quite something to behold – not just from a protecting standpoint but for its quirky, neat features. The status LEDs, for example, don't just blink on and off; they are animated. When you open the case, a little chase animation plays out on the lights to indicate how much battery is left. It's a minor detail but a welcome and valuable one. These lights will even play subtle dancing animations when the unit goes through its deep UV sterilisation process… Yep, just casually throwing that little nugget out there! These IEMs will self-sterilise inside the case via clever lighting and shielding techniques. The case also has wireless QI and, most importantly, looks and feels incredible. Does the self-cleaning work well? Who knows, but I certainly love telling people about it, though – and it's an excellent selling point. The top lid quickly attracts dust, fingerprints and scratch marks, so don't put these in the same pocket as your keys if you're planning to take them with you on the run.
The new ATH TWX9 is more than just a pair of earbuds; it's a lifestyle gadget as well – after all, how many headphones have you seen that can clean themselves? In a way, it also cleans the sound too – this design has a neutral sonic character that lets you really get into the groove. Factor in clever and intuitive features such as a multi-point connection and an equaliser that saves your settings to the buds themselves and not just the app, and the package is hard to fault. So it looks like Audio- technica has dispensed with its baby steps and taken an ambitious leap into the True-Wireless market.

Homewood Hotel and Spa is a privately owned luxury countryside hotel in Somerset, UK.
REQUIREMENTS Understanding the importance of selecting the proper solution for their outdoor audio needs, owners of Homewood, Ian and Christa Taylor, called on local specialists, Moss of Bath. The key requirements for their application were to find a reliable outdoor solution that could provide great sounding audio at any volume, and be discreetly hidden into outdoor elements.
THE CHALLENGE Setting itself apart from other boutique hotels, and enhancing the guest experience of its outdoor spaces, Homewood recognized a need for completing the atmosphere by adding the right touch of audio. Adding an audio system would be a great complement to their stunning outdoor terrace dining, but it had to be discreetly hidden and it had to provide an even, balanced listening experience for the comfort of the guests. The music had to be loud enough for guests to be drawn in, but low enough for comfortable conversation.
Tim Moss, owner of Moss of Bath, immediately recommended Sonance
Landscape Series as the audio system for this project. Based on his experience with the product and the results he was able to achieve for other clients, Tim knew that Sonance would be a good fit for Homewood Hotel and Spa.

Lady Lea's journey in the music industry began at the young age of 14, when she started DJing with vinyl and cd’s. Since then, she has performed at various clubs, events, raves, festivals, corporate events, fashion shows, parades, brand activations, and sports games around the world.
Her ability to read the crowd and play the right grooves to get everyone dancing is one of her most remarkable skills. Despite her impressive achievements, Lady Lea remains humble and committed to helping others. She currently runs a DJ mentorship program with over 50 students already signed up, aiming to inspire and promote young, up-and- coming DJs in a big way. Lady Lea's contributions to the music industry have not gone unnoticed. Review: Audio-Technica ATH-M50xSTS StreamSet
W ith ‘M50x’ in the model name of this product I was convinced I was going to appreciate my time with StreamSet . It’s a workhorse. The USB version plugs straight into your computer and uses USB power to provide juice to the mic (the analogue version of StreamSet requires phantom power). Its 2m hard-wired lead is sturdy and if you’re jumping around in your chair there’s no mechanical noise induced by the lead or the boom. StreamSet feels right and looks well suited to extended use. Gamers and streamers gravitate to what the pros use, so I’ve no doubt the ATH-M50xSTS StreamSet headphones will do well. Price won’t be a problem for streamers looking for quality. The Audio-Technica logo on the earcups tell their audience and colleagues that they’re serious about sound. For others who enjoy a weekly virtual catchup with mates on XBox but aren’t dedicated streamers, the StreamSet still has a lot to recommend it.
Here’s an exhortation: how we sound on web conference calls is becoming a real hallmark of how much we care about business communication. If you’re an audio person, sounding bad on a VC is a terrible look. I’ve been challenged by the StreamSet — it’s actually easy and convenient to sound present and pristine on a call.

Four RCF HDL 20-A's were flown in an array on either side of the stage, supported by dual 18-inch SUB 8006-AS subs, providing a thunderous sound that exceeded expectations. Eden's fondness for the HDL 20-A's, which he calls the "gods of thunder," stems from their impressive clarity and power, despite their lightweight design. The HDL 20-A line array elements are equipped with a highly efficient two- way digital amplifier, resulting in an exceptional power-to-weight ratio. Despite weighing only 30 kg, they can produce a formidable 135 dB max SPL with minimal energy expenditure. This feature is what caught Eden's attention the most, as he observed the power consumption during events and noticed that the RCF HDL 20-A cabinets are much more power- efficient than other products on the market. S wedish bassist and songwriter for visual media Moa Munoz has aspired to be a rockstar for as long as she can remember. With a degree from the Musician’s Institute and touring experience with the indie band Bay Ledges, she has been able to turn that dream into a reality. Today, Munoz is the bassist for pop superstar Olivia Rodrigo and Indonesian singer/songwriter NIKI, and recently wrapped a number of performances on NIKI’s Asia tour. Now back in the studio, Munoz plans to finish crafting her sound for television and film projects and teaching the newest generation of young female bassists. Munoz’s studio sits tucked in a Los Angeles neighborhood, which she has stocked with KRK ROKIT 7 G4 Studio Monitors for all her visual media work. “This is where I write and teach, where I record my vocals and scream my lungs out,” she says. “I wanted monitors that would be completely accurate ― when I write music for film and television, it’s a lot of fun, bouncy basslines mixed with my super bratty, confident vocals. The ROKITs give me a very true sound every single time. Whether I pull up my vocals here or in a different studio, I know they’ll be accurate.” Even when she’s on the road, Munoz doesn’t want to slow down her mixing work. “I’m a workaholic, and I love what I do,” she explains, “I don’t always write as much when I’m on tour, but I still have my gear with me.
I will usually bring my MESA Subway D- 350 Ultra-Compact Bass Amp and 2×10 Subway Diagonal Bass Cabinet; the head is so compact that it’s easy for me to bring wherever. But even if I can’t travel with that amp, one great thing about my ROKITs is that the sound quality holds up in the low-end to practice bass: it’s awesome. When I’m on tour, I’ll only bring a very basic set-up because I still need to be able to meet short deadlines and set up in a hotel room or in the back of the bus. I’m looking forward to trying out the KRK GoAux Portable Monitor System for that exact reason.” After wrapping another tour of rumbly, pop- rock shows, Munoz can’t help but reflect on her journey as an artist. “It really feels like everything has come full circle for me,” she says. “One of my earliest introductions to music was seeing Mötley Crüe live in concert, with Nikki Sixx shredding on a Gibson Thunderbird Bass. After moving to the U.S. as a broke college student, I was using old, gifted KRK ROKIT 5 Studio Monitors. Now, I have my very own Thunderbird, which my tech Skitch and I are so pumped to take on tour, and I’m able to rely on my brand-new KRK ROKITs for my professional production work. Abercrombie hotel reborn with Mezzo A+
I n Sydney, Australia, the newly reopened Abercrombie hotel has unveiled Powersoft's latest amplifier platforms, now equipped with AES67, including the improved A+ versions of the Mezzo range. The Abercrombie, originally established as the Australian Inn in 1843, has undergone a multi-million dollar renovation and now features three venues, including a club space, a cocktail lounge and rooftop terrace, and an aperitivo wine bar. Production Audio Video Technology (PAVT) and local system integrator BeyondAVwere responsible for providing a top-of-the-line AV system that could accommodate the unique challenges of the Abercrombie's acoustic environment, complicated by both the building's age and its new surroundings. The Abercrombie, located in the inner-Sydney suburb of Chippendale, traces its roots back to 1843 when it opened as the Australian Inn.
PAVT's choice to use Powersoft amplification, including 16 Mezzo 604 A+ and 13 Quattrocanali 1204 DSP+ amplifiers, was a natural one, as the company offers the same quality and acoustic characteristics as larger amplifier platforms in a half-size form factor. Powersoft's A+ models, which include the Mezzo 322 A+, Mezzo 304 A+, Mezzo 602 A+, and Mezzo 604 A+, have all the capabilities of the A versions, but with added AES67 compatibility, which allows for high- performance streaming audio-over-IP interoperability across different networking systems. The introduction of the AoIP-enabled models proved to be a "godsend" for the Abercrombie project, which was delayed over two years due to COVID- 19 and the heat of the component shortage, according to PAVT's business development manager, Dave Coxon. Despite the challenges of being an early adopter of new technology, the PowersoftA+/DSP+ amplifiers were instrumental in delivering a successful launch party and a high-quality audio experience for Abercrombie's patrons.

Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, Michael has become a multi- faceted musician, film composer, final mixer, sound designer, music producer, pianist, oboist, and singer-songwriter at the young age of 22.

Michael completed his Grade 8 Royal School of Music, UK, exams in all four instruments with distinction, a remarkable achievement that marked a first in the 174-year history of Bishops High School. Throughout his school career, Michael's talents as a composer and performer shone through, as he performed in a variety of international musicals and shows and won multiple awards in competitions and eisteddfod. At the age of 16, Michael was part of the opening act for the late Johnny Clegg at Kirstenbosch for an audience of 6000 people. In 2018, Michael was accepted into the highly specialized Music and Sound Composition for Media program at both the University of Southern California and Berklee College of Music, a significant achievement that reflected his skills and talent. Michael chose to study at Berklee College of Music and travelled to Boston in 2019 to begin his studies. Unfortunately, COVID-19 forced Michael to return to Cape Town midway through 2020. However, he continued his studies online and has since become an accomplished film composer, final mixer, sound designer, music producer, and more.
Michael's love for music started at the age of six , when he began taking classical piano lessons. As he grew older, he added lessons on oboe, voice, and pipe organ instruments to his repertoire.

Michael's impressive portfolio includes 13 TV movies for MNet/KykNet, a music supervisor, re-recording mixer and sound designer for a 52- episode local drama, a music score mix engineer for the award-winning South African film "Barakat," and a dialogue editor for multiple TV shows.
As of 2023, Michael operates out of his studio in Cape Town and is a Nord SA endorsed artist. He has also most recently become a Dolby Atmos Engineer, making his facility Dolby Atmos equipped, and becoming one of the foremost Atmos Mix Engineers in South Africa.

Additionally, Michael has worked with SAMA-nominated artists, worked with "The Voice SA" artists, had the privilege of working with world- renowned gospel artist Jonathan Butler, and had a SAFTA nominated movie, "Swirl," for Best Made for TV Movie.
He has also made the elite Dean's list at Berklee College of Music for each academic year. This weekend, Michael will be performing with Juanita & Franja Du Plessis, Juan Boucher, and the Totius Hill band for two sold-out shows at the Grand Arena, opening for international artist Kip Moore. The Nords will be front and center for these two shows, showcasing Michael's incredible talent. Michael Wilson-Trollip is a true rising star in the music and sound industry, and his dedication, passion, and talent will continue to propel him to even greater heights in the years to come.
